Ocean Echo Inn and Beach Cottages

Absolutely charming little cottage just a short walk up from the beach. The beach itself is great, though busy. Lots of places you can walk to, including a local beer garden, and Starbucks is less than a block away for morning coffee. Extremely clean, though the property is a little older. Very quaint. Parking is limited, but it wasn't a probelm during my stay. Would return.

This place was the cutest little quaint spot. If we weren’t passing through we would have stayed another night. Madison was personable and great. The price was unbeatable!

This place is also a nightmare if you have any Mobility or other challenges. The driveway is horrendous to get up and down and you are required to take your dogs off the property in order to use the bathroom. There were steps throughout the cottage unit as well; a few of the guests in our party had Mobility and site issues and this was a terrible place to stay for them. There’s also a ton of rules that are ridiculous such as not being able to use any of the white towels for anything or you will be charged. I would never recommend this place to anyone nor would I ever stay here again. 0/10.

I loved having the kitchen. We were able to make dinner and eat on the deck. The bbq grill was terrific. Ocean Echo is aptly named, as we heard the waves all night. Loved it.

It was quiet and residential. it felt homey. loved being steps away from the beach. room wasn’t ready until 5pm. the shower became cold too quickly, no AC (but the fans worked just fine).

The location was great but there are many other places to stay that are great locations that have better quality room's comparable to the cost.

My family and I have chose to stay here each time we come to Santa Cruz. We notified the front desk upon checking in for our over night stay that our toilet didn’t work. She was going to look at it and contact maintenance. We came back from dinner and waited but it was never fixed and no communication. Next morning we checked out. I asked for a discount but was dismissed.

Very clean and beautiful shower, great view of the beach and sound of the waves. 1. The continental breakfast was very poor and could have been improved with fresh fruit or a hot waffle. 2. Check in time is at 4:00 pm and charge extra if you want an early check in and check out by 11:00 am. you're really only staying for a half day.

What a wonderful place! My husband and I and our two dogs truly enjoyed our time here. Walking distance to the beach. We enjoyed a nice beach bonfires every night. Can’t wait to go back.

Access and proximity to beach

Overall, I don’t think the quality of the hotel lived up to the price. Considering how much wear and tear there was in our room (split fabric on the couch, broken lights on the stairs) and no a/c which made it pretty stuffy inside during the summer, I think a price point of around $250/night would have been more reasonable. The continental breakfast in the morning was hit or miss. Bagels were stale one day, okay the next. One day there was hot water for tea, the next there wasn’t. The beach closest to the hotel is very small and we only walked down there once. It has kind of a dirty, seedy feel. However, there are nice beaches a short walk in either direction a few blocks away. The small kitchen was nice to have but we didn’t cook much. If you’re planning on cooking a lot, having the kitchen might be worth it. The pros included the communal patio, which we had to ourselves on a couple mornings and one afternoon. There’s a nice little view of the water from the deck, and we enjoyed relaxing with our coffee there in the morning or while taking a break in the afternoon. We had a good time, but I expected the hotel to be in better condition after looking at the pictures, and I think for the price we paid, I’d probably look for a different hotel next time.
