Clean inviting property with beautiful eco-friendly amenities

The Ambrose is a wonderful hotel within striking distance of the Santa Monica Pier. The staff is incredibly helpful, and the daily (5pm-7pm) complimentary wine and craft beer service is a nice touch. There is also a great brunch place (Tartine) across the street. It was a great stay.

Great location for our needs as well.

The Good: - Cleanliness was top-notch. - Staff was friendly and accommodating. - Great location and excellent overall condition of the property. The Bad: - Noisy AC: Cycled on and off loudly all night. (without AC the room would have been too warm for a good sleep) - Thin walls: Heard every word of our neighbors' conversation in the early morning. Summary: We were only there from 9:00 PM to 8:30 AM and didn't use any amenities—we literally just paid for a night of sleep and didn't get it. For a quick, sleep-only stay, it was much too expensive for the lack of comfort

The location was disappointing—about 20 blocks from the ocean—and the street noise was constant. The soundproofing was terrible; I could hear everything happening in the hallway and in the neighboring rooms. When I checked in, I asked whether I could park in the hotel's parking lot and was told, "No problem." Later, I discovered an unexpected $60 parking charge added to my bill, with no mention of the fee beforehand. To make matters worse, when I arrived, I was told that the room I had booked hadn't been cleaned, so they moved me to what they called the "next best" room. Despite the inconvenience, no discount, credit, or other compensation was ever offered. Overall, this was a very poor experience. Between the excessive price, noisy rooms, unexpected charges, and lack of customer service, I would not stay here again.

The staff needs more experience with eye to eye contact and clarity of the Ambrose amenities. Also, they are not familiar with the neighborhood they are working in. My major concern was frustration with communication with my reservation. The manager was exhausting to satisfy a solution with the cleaning of my room. I still have been charged for a room that was not cleaned.

Wish there would have been a pool/ sauna

Location was why we stayed there. A/C system blasted from near ceiling height directly onto the bed. No way to avoid it. Had to turn off all ventilation to sleep. Also, surprise charges of $55 per night to park, $29 per night “Guest Amenity Fee” despite using no amenities, and $10 per night for parking tax. None of this was disclosed on website.

Great location! Wonderful stay!
-
The room was comfortable, the staff was very helpful and they had a happy hour. The Santa Monica pier is a 5-10 minute drive from the hotel and there a few nice places to eat around the area and a bakery just across the street.
-
staff were helpful and friendly, you also have access to a driver who can drop you anywhere within a 3 mile limit which was a great bonus! we had to move rooms part-way through but the staff were really helpful

A nice and clean hotel in a quiet neighborhood, perfect for a few days at in LA, especially for work.
-
A lovely, inviting space - inside and out - and an especially warm, friendly and gracious staff. I really enjoyed my stay and would definitely stay there again.
-
The room was adequate but nothing special. There was some long dark hair on the bathroom floor when we arrived. I like the fact that the windows open so fresh air can be enjoyed in the room. For the price, I feel like there should have been some additional more upscale amenities, such as Nespresso or similar coffee in the room or at the very least in the lobby. I also feel a refillable water bottle (i.e. PATH) would have been nice. The available bicycles are great, but since we visited to specifically attend an even we didn't have time to use them. The staff was very friendly, professional, and helpful.

Great stay - the staff was genuine and welcoming, coffee and lemon water always available made for some wonderful sit-on-the-beautiful-patio-and-relax moments, parking was easy and convenient. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!
-
The room was not in working order. While a balcony seems nice, the hotel is on the corner of two busy streets and near a hospital, so there is too much street noise to enjoy sitting outside.

The hotel is beautiful, the coffee is excellent, and the shared spaces are so lovely to enjoy. We did have a non-working bathtub that never got fixed, and we asked for towels that didnt come. But we generally had a great stay!
