Sand Castle Inn

When I returned, I discovered that my room had been given to another guest. I was not properly notified, nor was I offered a refund, compensation, or any reasonable resolution for the inconvenience and poor management of my reservation. A hotel should never check a guest out of their room and reassign it to someone else without confirming that the guest has actually checked out. This was extremely frustrating and unacceptable. Additionally, the towels in the room did not smell freshly cleaned, which added to the overall poor experience. Based on this experience, I would not recommend staying at this hotel. The way my reservation and room were handled was unprofessional and showed a serious lack of communication and customer service.

Great location near Monterey! The building is older, but it’s very well taken care of. Our room was clean and comfortable, we felt safe, and we slept great. The staff was friendly and welcoming. We would definitely stay here again!

Great spot that feels well and recently updated. Beds were comfortable, bathrooms in good condition. My only problem was the shutters did not do a good job of blocking light from outside, so if you can sleep with a mask on, bring one.

Clean room, the staff were nice, just 10 minutes walk from the beach so it was perfect

Room was cleaned, no doubt, and the way we knew was when we walked in the door and knocked over by the string smell of Clorox! The shower trickled and I mean trickled; no water pressure to wash hair because it would take forever to rinse it! The beds were firm. There was parking and they have an ice machine and a coin operated washer and dryer. The grounds were very noisy during early mornings. We stayed 3 nights and EVERY morning there was something going on; drilling, leaf blow, or people dragging their luggage down the stairs! They don't have blackout curtains only plantation shutters, so it's bright in the morning. The man at the front desk is not very welcoming or helpful! We would not stay again.

From the staff to the room, the place was great. Only it was a bit noisy. Overall a great place for a one night layover.

This is a small, basic hotel room. Good for one night as we drove the PCH. Property is near Hwy 1, but in a busy area not as cute and quaint as what you’ll find in Carmel or Monterey.

Room was very clean. Enjoyable stay. Highly recommend.

Everything was within a walking distance & several plazas is in 1 mile radius !

This hotel has seen better days, but it was clean and the bed slept well. You can tell that it is being maintained, but it is a little rough around the edges.
