Sand Castle Inn

First time staying here and we were truly satisfied. Room was very clean and roomy. Full size soap, shampoo/conditioner, dispenser. Fridge was a great size too. Bathroom had a window and pretty spacious! On site washer and dryer, Ice machine, water station and vending machine with drinks. Super close to shopping center with a Costco, Target, gas station restaurants,etc. There is an Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Staff was polite and friendly, and easy check-in. Plenty of parking and well lit lots. Couldn't really hear other guests, so that was a plus. We'll definitely be staying here again.

The room was clean but just okay ! The lady that checked us in didn’t seem very happy more irritable. Coffee maker was an epic failure, they put the wrong pods in there.

When you first drive in you can tell it’s an older hotel, but the rooms inside are really nice and the beds are comfortable, and everything was nicely cleaned

There was a small problem at check in because, somehow, my reservation was made for two rooms instead of one. The staff resolved it and refunded the extra room, which I appreciated. The only downside was that construction started in a room just one door down from us at 7:00 a.m. If we had been staying longer, that probably would have been an issue. Fortunately, we were already up early packing to leave. On the bright side, it was nice to see they are remodeling and updating the rooms.

Very friendly staff, good place if you are traveling with pets

The property had friendly and helpful staff. The room was clean and had laminated flooring, which I prefer over carpet, and not to far from the beaches and fisherman's warf. The only concern I had was the area ( neighborhood) of the hotel itself wasn't great.

I had a really nice stay at this hotel. It was clean, had all the useful amenities in the room, and I felt safe traveling alone there. I really appreciated the card-less entry into the room, it made adventuring much easier not having to worry about losing my key card and just entering a code to get in. The property looks like it is in the process of being updated/remodeled, and I was in an updated room. I think this was a great budget-friendly hotel, very near to beach access and restaurants, but outside of the hustle and traffic of Monterey. The only downside was that there were no blackout drapes, just cute beachy shutters that had light come through more than blackout drapes would, but it was fine.

A special thank you to the housekeeping staff. They do an outstanding job. After spending all day out exploring the Monterey Peninsula, it's always nice to come back to a clean, refreshed room. Their hard work definitely doesn't go unnoticed and is one of the reasons we continue coming back. If I had one small suggestion, it would be to update the guest washer and dryer. Having reliable laundry facilities makes a big difference for travelers, especially during longer stays or road trips. It's certainly not a dealbreaker, just something that would make an already great experience even better. Overall, we've had consistently positive experiences here and will absolutely be back again. Thank you to the owners and staff for your hospitality and for making each stay enjoyable!

Clean and spacious room

My stay was great! I’m someone who really cares about cleanliness and Sand Castle Inn did a great job. My only concern was the shower and I sadly didn’t bring it to the hotel’s attention. I believe the drain was clogged. Other than that it was great. Staff was super helpful and replaced my towels daily. Thanks!

A decent place for a reasonable price.

The rooms were clean and quiet at night. The young man at checking in was very helpful and polite. I enjoyed interacting with him. It was a pleasure.
