SureStay Hotel by Best Western Seaside Monterey

We booked two nights to help move my daughter into CSUMB but decided to not stay the second night. The room was upstairs at the end of the building and there were pigeons nesting in the chimney of the fireplace and bird feathers everywhere. When we lit the fireplace and started the fan it smelled like bird excrement and dust. The neighbor downstairs smoked non-stop at the bottom of the stairs under our room despite being shown the smoking area literally 40 feet from her door. There is no pool or hot tub but they do have a picnic area with a bbq. The hotel is located on a very busy intersection and was pretty noisy late into the night. While the room seemed recently redone, (new flooring, vanity and some furniture) the bathtub and toilet areas were very dated and stained. The floor was dirty (socks and feet turned grey) but the bed linens we clean and smelled like bleach. lt was a good price for a hotel room, so I guess you get what you pay for.

The room was comfortable overall, but it could use some updates. The carpet showed visible dust buildup around the beds, and the shower seemed like it could use some plumbing maintenance. The complimentary breakfast was very basic. The biggest issue was that no staff member was monitoring the breakfast area to restock items, so guests had to ask for things like milk and cups. Seating was also limited. On the plus side, the coffee machine was excellent and offered cappuccinos, lattes, and mochas, which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a convenient stay with an excellent check-in experience, but there are a few maintenance and breakfast service improvements that would make it even better.

Spare yourself. Do not book this hotel!! Not only is it inconveniently located, but the property is not well maintained. The power went out on our only night there at 9 pm and they said it was a planned power outage and that it would be out until 6 am. They failed to mention this to anyone staying at the hotel. Fortunately hotels.com refunded me and we moved to the Carmel mission inn and had an INCREDIBLE experience there instead

Room was clean, beds were comfortable. Breakfast was ok just some grab and go items. Floors creaked when walking on them. Met our needs for the time we were there.

Overall the hotel is in a good location and clean rooms.

The lamp and hairdryer and the electric outlet next to the bed are both not working in the room I stayed. And very noisy.

Bottom line: the room was clean. So, that makes the stay worth it in my eyes. However, the staff was a little unhelpful since they are rarely at the front desk and some don’t speak almost any English. The continental breakfast is not really breakfast—it’s more like a tiny room with a coffee/juice machine, a few pieces of toast, hard boiled eggs that look dubious, and some yogurt. Additionally, there is very little parking; at night, it fills up completely. Lastly, the AC in the room was fair. We were in a two-room suite, so the AC did not reach the other room, leaving it a little warm and uncomfortable to sleep in. Overall, it’s good for a one-night stay, but perhaps not an extended stay.

The power went out many times during the evening. It was hot!

Place was ok but the wifi was super bad for the kids and breakfast i believe they can do better on it but other then that it was ok place

Parking was limited and neighbors were so loud. The doors creeked loud and the bed was unstable

Best hotel ever. The price was just right. Super clean and updated

Loved the hotel. Clean room, comfy bed. The breakfast was perfect. Coffee, boiled eggs, toast and yogurt. There was cereal and waffles.

Check in person was not very helpful. Asked about food recommendations, the person was limited in knowledge about local places time for closing. Said our room had no one nearby, instead there was a family with 2 children. Mom yelled at kids very early in the AM and kids were slamming doors at night and in the morning.

The small, basic room was adequate. The continental breakfast, supposedly served from 7 to 9, was not open by 7:10 when we decided to go elsewhere. Our keys did not work the second day and needed to be replaced. Our rooms were not cleaned the second day, too often common these days, although usually the motel tells you of this practice. This motel did not.

A piece was missing from door handle. Room was bare and did not look anywhere near what picture showed. Could hear every sound from upstairs room, outside of room.

The room we were given was okay, but the bathroom was in very poor condition. It looked old and worn out, and I didn’t like it at all. It was very inconvenient because there were no cabinets or storage space to put personal items. Overall, the bathroom was very disappointing. The room itself was fine, but the bathroom was definitely not good and I was not satisfied with it.
