“Breakfast” was placed in the refrigerator the evening prior to actual breakfast. Not exactly a true “bed and breakfast”. Disappointing in this regard

Centrally located, Arctic Paradise is comfortable and well kitted out for a solo traveler or a couple. Mary Ann rents out just the one room. She makes the breakfast ahead of time and puts it in the room’s fridge so guests can have it in the morning. There is a microwave and coffee maker, too, and coffee. Mary Ann is friendly, gracious & quite interesting. Some people might not like how high the bed is. It’s higher than a table height, so it may be awkward for some folks. But ask Mary Ann, she likely has a way to accommodate that. She had no trouble dealing with my need to avoid wheat, for example.

Mary Ann contacted me several times before my arrival to make sure my stay was comfortable. The room and bathroom were very clean, too. The best part, though, was the bedding. I slept very well! The bathroom is not connected to the room so you have to enter the main property to access it, but it is right next to the bedroom and Mary Ann stays upstairs.

Great breakfast. Lovely host.

The only nice thing I can say it that it was centrally located, but it's a small town so everything is centrally located. I wish people would have been more honest in previous reviews. I think B&B guests may be more generous than others due to the personal nature of the stay (and maybe the host is off in the off season as well), but I would never recommend this place to anyone. Aside from the overcommunication with automated messages trying to sell us tours that didn't exist and buy jewelry from her store, we felt very inconvenienced by our host's strict 5pm check in policy because she didn't want to be "stuck waiting on us." Then the space itself was small, uncomfortable, and dusty...very dusty. The mismatched room felt like we were staying at a second cousin's house we didn't know very well for the holiday but PAYING AN OUTRAGEOUS PRICE. I hardly slept due to the smooshy bed and hard pillows. And the "breakfast" consisted of frozen hard boiled eggs and stale oatmeal crumble she told us she prepared days in advance...so not fresh. I think the WORST part though was that for 3 hours she ignored our requests for a conversation the following morning to request an earlier check out and refund until we gave up and just left because we couldn't stand being in the house any longer. She texted us back after we left saying she didn't see our emails, texts, or hear us calling up the stairs...for 3 hours? We had paid her in cash as she requested to avoid having to report it, but then said she couldn't give us a refund because she'd already made the breakfast for the next morning...yuck and gross. In case you think I'm being unreasonable, please know that I love giving positive reviews and usually do... but this place should be avoided. We were willing to lose $155 to run out at first light.

Mary Ann was an awesome hostess and her home was warm and inviting with a fun artistic flair! Great location right in the middle of town!

Lovely place to stay in Barrow. Beautiful home with Inuit art. Very comfortable, clean room. Hosts very helpful and welcoming. Good breakfast. Unless you need to stay in the big hotel or the one near the airport, this is far more home-like and personal. Only about a ten-fifteen minute walk to center of town. Nothing.

Mary Ann was really welcoming and friendly; we really enjoyed talking to her. Breakfast was delicious. The space was comfortable, nicely decorated, and in a great location. Thank you for welcoming us into your lovely house, Mary Ann!

Nice downtown location. Temperature control was good (Alaska). TV set up quirky and very dated. We were asked to remove our shoes before entering the premises. The entrance had nowhere near enough room to do this easily. Breakfast was NOT cooked for you in the AM. It was prepared the night before for you to take out of the fridge and eat in the AM.

The room is small but comfortable. Breakfast is tasty. The location is very quiet. The owner does not allow the use of the washer/dryer but will do laundry for guests at extra cost. The accommodation is a room with a private bathroom in a small house in the town located one block from the seafront. The owner is welcoming and offers suggestions for restaurants and things to do. The room has a small refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, and TV with cable and streaming services. Parking is free on the street in front. Compared to a hotel the price was a little high.

The location is great, in walking distance to the harbor and downtown. It’s one block from the Bay. Mary Ann is so nice and accommodating. Her breakfast was really good and was the perfect amount of food to start your day. Would recommend staying here.

This B&B was very charming, and Mary Ann was a wonderful host. The location is great for a quick walk to the downtown area as well as the small boat harbor.
