The staff was great. The property smaller and is dated however, the problem is the plumbing is in-need of service. Our bathtub/shower was extremely slow to drain (yuck). You can tell drainage issues have plagued the units as wall access panels were of different colors (we rented 2 rooms). When that issue is corrected, the property will do for a night or two prior to leaving out on either a charter or cruise ship.

It is a little house in a fair condition. One thing which is not good is that noise was loud and woke me up when the guest in the next door took a shower

Older property but very clean. Staff was polite and very helpful.

The location of the place is the top feature. It is close to most things in Seward and walking distance to some of the boat tours. Otherwise, it's pretty bare bones and it's a bit overpriced (but everything is expensive in Seward is expensive for the peak Summer season). Also, note that it is next to the Main Street for Seward, so it can be a bit noisy.

The room had an odor when we arrived so the clerk brought in a fan after we asked. We had several more issues about the room we were assigned: a dirty, wet bath towel was left behind the door of the bathroom by a previous guest; the room had no space for hanging clothes, only six hooks on the wall; the folded towels were set atop the microwave that was stacked above the refrigerator, all connected to an extension cord with a power strip; the four-drawer chest stored a blanket in two drawers and the other two were sealed shut; the large TV was set atop the chest of drawers although old mounts were still secured to the wall; the two beds were set apart with no table between nor on the sides of the beds; and the view from our only window was the repair shop across the side road. The pictures online did not show our room. We did not find another place to stay and spent four days and three nights with our suitcases opened on the extra bed. A final bill was not available since it was booked through Expedia.

It was the dirtiest and most run down hotel room.I've ever stayed in.

  • Engine customer Aug 2026

The location was fine. There was a parking lot and it was close to town. There were darkening shades on the windows which was helpful for summer in Alaska. It was small. Seemed run down and dated. It's an expensive town to stay in during the summer but this room seemed very expensive for what it was.

Good location and easy walking distance to downtown. Room was clean and comfortable and was about as expected. A little pricy for the room but relatively the same as other rooms in the area. It was good for a quick overnight stay.

The hotel itself was a bit run down. It could definitely be updated. The bathroom fan in our room was not functional, unfortunately. The rooms were just big enough for our family of 4- functional yes, a bit tight at times, too. The lobby downstairs had a Kuerig coffee maker (not in each room) and extra amenities which were helpful (extra soap, maps, trash bags, etc). The staff were very helpful in getting us checked in, but I didn't see (or need) anyone the rest of the trip (we were gone during the days). That being said, we didn't come to Seward to spend time in our motel rooms. Murphy's was in a great location, well priced, and functional for our crew. If you're expecting more than that, you should book elsewhere. One other note that I don't expect Muprhy's to have much control over- During our stay, there were tour buses that used the spaces across the street from the motel for overnight parking. This wasn't much of an issue until about 4:30 or 5 in the morning when they would start the buses and run the diesel engines through a warm up- revving them up and down. Not the greatest way or time to be woken up.

The shower was hot and good water flow. The staff were so nice and the Jolly Ranchers, hot chocolate, water and coffee were a treat. The busses starting up at 5:00 am when we had our balcony door open - noisy

Great location and wifi This is not an inn, it is a motel. On arrival our room had hair in the bathroom and tub, which they cleaned after we requested. The room was very dated and in much need of a deep clean. The tub and toilet were chipped. The walls were very thin and you could hear the people next to us snoring. There was dust, a huge cobweb in the corner, the shower curtain was brown (no shower curtain liner) and the tv wasn’t even mounted on the wall. Granted we were here during the busiest part of the season, but for $274 a night it was unacceptable. The only redeeming quality was the location. Would not recommend unless you are willing to suffer.

This is a hotel that was probably built in the late 60s with immediate access to every room from the parking lot with your car right in front of your door. The Motel has not seen an update since it was built. The beds are comfortable, but the linens&towels are 1-2 star quality.Staff is only available 9am to 9pm. Would be helpful if staff was also available earlier in the day 7am,since many charters and cruises leave early in the morning. The staff when present was very pleasant and helpful. The motel is in a good location but WAY over priced for the accommodations.
