Passable

The car sitting on blocks in the parking lot and the people smoking on their balconies set the tone. After trudging up four flights in a filthy stairwell (if there was an elevator the desk clerk failed to mention it), I opened the door to my room, looked at it for ten seconds, closed, the door and made a reservation at a different hotel.

Renovations are a huge and complicated task so expect old flooring, peeling paint, etc. Everything is working and if you have an issue it’ll be dealt with promptly but the lower rates are because they are doing the work themselves & not just bringing in contractors to do the upgrades quickly so they can double or triple their rates. The location is walkable to everything in downtown Springfield - all tourist / Lincoln stuff, all government buildings, entertainment, restaurants, etc. I have felt safe in the area whether it’s noon or midnight (bear in mind I am male!). Parking is good, the rooms and property are clean but old, and you WILL ABSOLUTELY hear the trains at night when they past the backside of the building. I’m a very sound sleeper & have no noise complaints but if you’re a light sleeper you may need to stay elsewhere. Double the quiet, double the $$. Just be aware, & ask questions, they’re honest and upfront

This property is in urgent need of repair. It is under new ownership but suffers from years of neglect. I could not get a room on the first floor and there is no elevator so I had to lug my bag up a dirty and disgustingly filthy outdoor stairwell littered with cigarette butts. There was no soap of any kind in the room. The refrigerator had been unplugged and previous travelers left items in the freezer that I had to throw out. The room was filthy and the bathroom tub and toilet were so stained that they looked dirty. If you need quiet to sleep, be advised that freight trains run through Springfield every hour all through the night, and are so loud it feels like they are right next to the property. Springfield seems to be a quaint town overall, but I will never choose to stay there and certainly not at this hotel until it is renovated.

Location felt unsafe, I was traveling with my girlfriend and it felt like we were always being watched or stared at. The rooms and the hallways were unclean and rundown. No guest laundry, no ice, no breakfast. Our key stopped working 2 times in our 4 day stay. The parking lot was full of old rolled up carpets and old jacuzzi bathtubs. There were pretty constantly random people standing around the parking lot.

For the rate, the place was acceptable. Room/ bed were clean . The gentleman at front desk was very friendly and helped. We had a conflict with 1st room and he was quick to place us in a different room. I would stay here again.

The hotel and rooms are perfectly fine - everything works as it should and is clean, though the property is older. The location is great for seeing Springfield’s historical sites - most within walking distance. Don’t miss the Lincoln Home Historical Site (free tour of the home), the old State Capitol (site of Lincoln’s House Divided speech), and the Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum. Also, check out Lulu’s Diner and Sunrise Diner for breakfast, Whimsy’s Tea for a break, and Obed and Isaac’s for lunch and dinner. Anvil and Forge Brewery is great for cool craft beers and pub food.

Do not recommend, will not ever stay again. I was ripped off, big time

It’s quiet and close to about anything ya wanna do.

Excellent location in downtown and near all historical sights. Directly across the street from the Governor's Mansion. Property could use an updating and some outside building repair work but overall the room was clean and the manager very hospitable. I would definitely stay here again. Excellent choice for the price and being a budget motel.

When we arrived I wasn't going to judge a book by its cover. However, I did ask if the room that we would be staying in was nice the clerk told me that it had a new bed, and there were still renovating, but I could go see our room first before I paid, which I did. It was worse than I could imagine. Mold on the bathroom floor and the wall of the shower. I went back to the desk and told the clerk we would not be staying there. He was very nice.

Nothing The room was ran down, old scratched up furniture, smoke alarms hanging out of the wall, couch had miss cushions that did not go to it and did not fit properly, mirrors were so smudged could barely see thru the film on them, hot tub and big section of tile missing g with only on light in ceiling above it working and it was hanging out of socket area. Carpet looks to be newer shower was cut and raveling instead of being tucked into or under baseboards or runner. Most of the plugs did not work to charge phones, etc. Just horrible, this list is longer but I think you get the idea.

Like the location and the room was nice all except the jets in the tub did not work at least we couldn't get them to work

It was okay. They are working on it. The beds were clean and did the job. The room smelled terribly of mildew when I walked in. I ran the AC and after a few hours the smell was gone completely. The paint on the ceiling peeling. It must of been a while since the room was rented. The shampoo and body wash were out. The elevator worked. The outside property was clean. The area around it all seems to be historical buildings and under renovations. It will be cool to see what comes of it.
