It is a beautiful, historic building on a campus of rolling hills..walking distance to town. It couldn't have been more lovely or the staff more friendly and helpful.
-
Unusual space in its current incarnation. Nicely appointed, very comfortable, cupola is an experience to climb and look out from, supports excellent local artists, deep history. Currently very nicely Maintained.

Staff very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but very clean and comfortable.

We had a wonderful time. What a beautiful property and so close to so much. I would have liked to have some glasses in the room, and they were out of hand soap, but otherwise it was perfect! Highly recommend!

I recently stayed at the Blackburn

A pleasant surprise and the loveliest of rooms. I was in town for Shakespeare and my friends' hotel was unavailable. In the end, I was happy for that. Everything was closer than a 15 minute walk. I enjoyed the art gallery on the 3rd floor! The staff was welcoming and helpful. I will be returning!

Long wait for breakfast. Save time and find other places.

Did not eat there

Beautiful grounds, well-kept rooms and a 10 minute stroll to town. You do need a walk signal across the road howecer; during the day, crossing the street is a challenge. In the evening, though, no problem.

While the facility and furnishings in the room were very good, my room was extremely noisy. I could hear every door outside opening and closing, and the constant flushing and footsteps from upstairs. Turns out my room was right underneath the kitchen, which made it especially noisy. I would recommend getting one of the upper rooms if available.

The staff is very friendly. Room is clean and neat. Our favorite surprise was the Art Gallery on the 3rd floor. Beautiful! The grounds are so well manicured, lovely to take a walk.

I didn't see the history of the place in the writeup.

My room was spacious. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom was particularly nice with plenty of room. I appreciate a shower with good water pressure, and my bathroom had that. Love the view from the cupola and walk surrounding it.

I could not get the online key system to work so we instead picked up traditional electronic key cards from a woman at the check-in location. Though we did not need it, it appears that the entryway to the hotel office is not handicapped accessible due to the number of stairs. Even though we adjusted the room temperature, it did not seem to affect the actual temperature coming out and it was a bit chilly set to about 68° in July. We did not have time to eat breakfast in the hotel. It has a large parking lot to the side of the main building. The hotel is about 2-minutes drive to the shops and restaurants of Staunton and about 6 minutes to I-81. For EV charging, there are Tesla chargers about 5 minutes away and four 350 kw Electrify America chargers at an impressive Wal-Mart.

This is an old-school inn in Staunton, which is a pretty town with lots of great restaurants. Both breakfast and dinner options were abundant. There was construction going on, involving the opening of a new building, but it did not impact my stay. This being Virginia, there was a smoking area on the end of the front porch, which felt quite genteel. Would stay again if the price is discounted.
