Over crowded pool. No towels. No water. Vending machine waters were always sold out. Everything seemed to be a challenge at this resort.

My biggest complaint was the food. The quality didn’t match the high prices, and we found most of the meals to be pretty underwhelming. We ended up leaving the resort to eat for the majority of our trip. I also wish there were more dining options on the property, as the selection felt limited. A full-service room service menu would be a great addition as well, especially for families with young children after a long day at the pools. If the dining experience were improved, this would easily be a five-star resort for families.

Very beautiful. Walks were beautiful, everything in close proximity . Property was very clean and staff very inviting. Not to far from shopping. Had a great time

Good place for Kona. A little on the busy side but to be expected with such a large resort.

This property is HUGE. Like there is a train from the front lobby to the rooms huge so be prepared to walk a lot if you don’t want to wait for it. This resort really does have tons to do if you didn’t feel like going out and exploring though. The lagoon that feeds in from the ocean is full of turtles, fish and manta rays . You can rent various water toys to enjoy in there. We rented 2 kayaks for an hour for 90 bucks. The pools are large and have slides etc perfect for families with kids. We never ate on the property but there are plenty of little strip malls a few min drive away with various options. Only con in that the parking is 48 a night so you end up with an astronomical bill after already spending a lot to be there in the first place. Also in 6 nights room service did not come once. I finally asked at one point when they would come because we were out of towels. They said the skipped us because our do not disturb sign was on but we removed it daily between 8-10 am once we were out and ready for the day. Had to call a second time for toilet paper. I feel like after spending thoughts being able to get room service would have been nice. All in all they were super nice when we called and brought us what we needed right away.

This property has three buildings you can stay in. We stayed in the Makai which I highly recommend. It is the building closest to their on-property luau: Legends of Hawai’i, has a great pool with a fun slide, is where the dolphin cove and lagoon are, there is a poolside bar, a grille restaurant by the lagoon, Kona coffee shop, Big Island Market for souvenirs or sunscreen, fitness center, spa, and is near the parking lot. You can request an ocean view room and you’ll be able to see the ocean and possibly the dolphin cove. The property is near two market place shops (Kings & Queens) and is convenient to the Kona airport.

Really spread out space. Clean and well kept. Restaurants on the property were great

I don’t like the gym dust everywhere and no clean hands towels.

Clean and well-maintained property, exceptional staff and service. Added bonus of a “walking” cultural museum featuring Asian Pacific Islander exhibits and artifacts.

The Luau was amazing! My kid loved it, only way I could afford it as a single Parent was doing the time share tour, didn’t realize I was going into a pond full of sharks..worth my 2 1/2 hours I think. Saved me $300. Glad I was able to say no…when I was told “no pressure”…😜day care would be nice…

Everything was wonderful we will be back soon

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Very dated hotel and everything is so spread out it’s exhausting to go to far from your room. Our room was underground in the basement and the hallway we had to walk down was endless.

The view Certain things like the boat was not working

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Poor layout due to only elevator access being on the farthest ends of the resort. If you are traveling with suitcases you will have to carry them up multiple levels of steps to avoid walking x2 the distance.

This property is a beautiful location and offers a variety of activities. The staff was very helpful and willing to be of service. I would recommend this property to anyone!

First room had a massive cockroach in it( was told this was a common occurrence but didn’t see another one the whole trip) to their credit they switched us to a nicer room. If you plan on leaving this hotel a lot do not stay in any tower but the lagoon tower! The other 2 towers are about a 15 minute walk from the parking lot. There is a tram but it goes slower than walking pace so is honestly not worth taking.. everything at the resort is really expensive which can be expected in Hawaii but is still worth bringing up. Overall, if you plan on coming to Hawaii for the island and not the resort do not stay here! All of the staff were very helpful, I had no problems with the staff whatsoever just the design of the resort and the prices that are set.

The rooms were super nice hotel overall was a 5 star. The downfall is the transportation the train is so slow and the boat ride is closed.

  • Engine customer Jun 2026

Expensive dining on property but good quality food and drinks.

Beautiful property. Boats for the canal have apparently been out of service for several months, with no explanation when asked. Other than that, zero complaints. Staff was awesome, super clean and very family friendly. Restaurants were all top notch.
