The 8:30a.m. breakfast is served at a communal dining table on elegant dishware, where each guest was individually hand served a 3 course homemade breakfast of greek yogurt and nuts or jam, fresh blueberries in cream, and either a loaded omelet, quiche or avocado toast. Choice of pressed juices and coffee were also served. It felt like a family gathering of like-minded travelers sharing their stories over a delicious leisurely breakfast together. As a solo traveler on this particular stay, I didn't have to eat alone or in silence. Instead I got to enjoy a family style breakfast conversing with interesting, friendly travelers. They also have some tables that only occomodate 2 for solos and couples who prefer noncommunal dining. But during my 2 night stay, all attending guests chose to dine together. How wonderful even for an introvert! And so different from my usual Hilton stays. If I were to return to Wausau, I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Quite lovely. No elevator, but the owner was accommodating to swiftly bring up my luggage when I arrived. But leaving, I did have to carry it down the grand staircase myself. A bit hard for a 60 year old! Some guests closed their doors a bit loudly which did interrupt my sleep on occasion. If you didn't arrive at 8:30am for breakfast, give or take 15 minutes, and stay at least 45 minutes, you'd miss out. But the camaraderie and homespun feel was worth it.

The Inn is well kept and its hospitality is homespun. I was graciously greeted at the front door by the owner and made to feel at home from the start. My king room with fireplace was beautiful as pictured along with thoughtful details such as robes and nightlights. Down the hallway was a lovely beverage nook featuring complimentary water, teas, coffee and a refrigerator filled with sodas. Complimentary glass of wine was offered at 5pm in the great room, which I accepted, along with the wonderful visiting of the attending guests. The property is gorgeous! Plenty of common areas. Bed was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast was phenomenal. Randy was a delightful host! Absolutely nothing!

We loved the location? No complaints!

Fantastic historic home, carefully modernised without compromising any of the original. You feel like the guest of the original wealthy owner, rather than a customer. Spacious comfortable room with great shower. Probably the most comfortable “hotel” bed ever. Located 5 minutes walk from downtown restaurants, the river and the great local galleries. The host is a genuine “character” who knows his trade well and has you and fellow guests feeling like friends. Super and different breakfast each of the 3 days we stayed. Easy parking on site. Couldn’t recommend this “B and B” highly enough, the over used term “boutique” genuinely applies here. Loved our stay. Leaving

It was incredible. It would have been a good value at twice the price. A historic home by a well-known architect; a fabulous host; excellent breakfast; and within walking distance of good dining.
