Here's the thing about the Coolidge. Its old. They don't hide that. However, the rooms are clean, the staff is nice, you can walk to dinner and sweet art galleries. I was very happy with my stay. If you like sterile hotels this isn't the place for you. If you like hotels with some character and fantastic staff definitely give it a try!

I have mixed feelings. The website pictures looked great, comfy and sorta romantic. I paid for a suite (180+ a night x 2). We knew the hotel was old but at least spend a little for cleaning, paint, clean carpet, rain leaks and maybe larger smart TV. The king bed bent in the middle and was not comfortable. I felt I way overpaid but we chalk it up to “the experience.” The good: excellent location, great staff, nostalgic, lobby/hallway decor is precious and the little cafe attached is cool. Just clean the rooms better (include steam cleaning couches/furniture) and make it feel warm and cozy not too old and unclean. The town is really cool!!!

Even though it’s old, it is VERY clean! I was impressed with the cleanliness of everything there.

I have stayed here on a regular basis. Very fun old fashioned hotel ! Comfortable with a retro feel of days gone by!

Its an old world hotel, the staff and people staying there are very nice. A great location. Rooms are large and clean.

The location to wonderful Turkish restaurants was perfect. I loved Putnams coffee and wine bar, and I ate the best BBQ ribs ever at Big Fatty’s. I probably wouldn’t stay again because having a working AC is important to me.

On the whole it is an old hotel which is generally ok; but I think this one has lost its charm.

We were there for 4 nights/5 days. Never had maid service and after 3 days asked for clean towels. They, the front deck people, said towels and maid comes every 2 days but for some reason we got skipped. No exit bill which concerns me. We stayed there because it was a historic hotel. People must realize it means old really old. The no service was the reason we rated a 3, and I believe that was generous.

I can appreciate a vintage property and there are many things about this hotel that are charming. That said, my spacious King room overlooking the front of the hotel had a window a/c and vinyl blinds that did nothing to block out the streetlights all night - like sleeping with the lights on. At 4am the train whistle blew about 2 blocks away and seemed like it kept blowing until 5am. The bathroom was “remodeled” to accommodate an open shower/wet area in one corner and a toilet 6 inches from the opposite wall. The toilet base literally rocked from side to side, which I reported. I wish them well, but this was a hard night that I will not be repeating.

Very helpful and kind staff. Nice accommodations, comfortable and clean and well located, with some character and history.

Historic hotel renovated for contemporary stays. Room layout was unique with the bathroom separating the two sleeping areas

As soon as you enter the hotel, you notice a strong smell of dampness. There are old carpets throughout the building, and it really doesn't smell good. The room was only moderately clean—there were insects in the bed and the bathtub, the ceiling was cracked from past water damage, and the carpet smelled musty... However, the service was excellent, and the welcome was great!

The check-in was quite personable. The facility itself feels a bit like an ancient aircraft carrier. The upper floors feature long corridors. A portion has been given over to Hostelling International and operates on that basis. Creaky and uneven floors seemed pretty common. The furniture in the room, especially the chairs there, were the wrong side of the divide between shabby chic and shabby. Hot water took quite a while to arrive and the shower and tap water had a noticeable metallic taste and smell. That last aspect of this stay led me to alter my subsequent night’s stay on our journey to a chain hotel with a good shower. There was a squadron of cleaners the morning we departed. Of particular interest, the ground floor of the hotel structure is home to an impressive array of commerce. A walk around its perimeter demonstrates how significant that aspect of the Hotel Coolidge is to White River Junction. That aspect alone draws attention to this place, and makes it interesting. The breakfast vouchers make a relatively expensive — though tasty — breakfast less so. If you’re really on a budget, they might be of limited value.

Loved the location and the old world charm of this hotel. Convenient parking lot right behind the hotel means there's no need to worry about parking. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The only downside is that there were blinds in our room but they didn't really block out a lot of light and so it was impossible to make our room very dark.
