Holiday Inn Express Wichita South by IHG

We had a good stay, rooms where clean (except for a piece of trash lying in the corner under the table), staff nice and the breakfast delicious.

It was good for the price we pay.

The hotel as a whole is in deteriorated condition. There was a huge bleach stain on the hallway carpet near our room. All along the hallway areas were scented wall plug-ins. Holiday Inn hasn’t kept the hotel clean and everything smells. Lights out in the hallways, including the area near the elevator on first level make the building look run down and unsafe. Even the main light in our room did not work and we had to go all the way into the room to turn on a light. The only available light was a lamp on the nightstand between the beds. The window curtain was torn and everything seemed damaged. Even the wall had large black marks. We were very disappointed. I would expect this if we were in a Motel 6 or an extended stay location, but not a $200 a night Holiday Inn. The bathroom had issues as well. Most of the water in the shower wasn’t diverted to the shower head when taking a shower. The majority of the water still came out of the spout even in shower mode. Which I tested operation several times and the diverter was not operating correctly. The toilet wobbled and wasn’t mounted properly. Not sure who is in charge of building maintenance, but they are dropping the ball and the building is in need of someone that can make the repairs. I would not recommend this location until these issues can be addressed.

Clean room, good breakfast

The rooms were not clean and the bathrooms had rust stains.

Shower in a room on 4th floor hot water would not adjust. It would either be too hot or too cold. Management put the room out of order and upgraded us to a 3rd floor room that was the best nights sleep we had had in days.

There was not a coffee maker in the room. During check in the clerk was very pleasant and helpful. At checkout the clerk was not very nice

It seemed like nobody cleaned our room before hand, and every time housekeepers went in my room they never closed the door behind them so all my personal stuff was sitting there for anyone to take!

We booked this hotel 1 week before our stay and we we arrived they did not have a room for us. No call, no email, nothing to warn us.

Rooms needed some fixing up….our black out curtains had a huge tear in them and the sheers were wadding up and wouldn’t close properly. Hallway rugs were ripped at the seams in the hallway….

Our family stayed in a double queen room. The room was much bigger than we had anticipated and was very clean! Both of these were major pluses! There was plenty of seating at the breakfast area. They had plenty of options for food. The outside of the hotel does look a little rundown, but is in much better shape than the other ones surrounding it. The rock beds surrounding the entrance were covered in cigarette butts. The area also smells like gas. When I asked the front desk attendant about the smell she said it was from their dryers. The foyer and 4th floor hallway both had a bad odor, but thankfully it didn’t carry into our room. The pool area smelled strongly of chlorine, urine, and cleaner. They had no towels available and when we asked at the front desk we were told to come back in a little bit and they would have some bath towels waiting for us up there. The staff was underwhelming. Not a single member greeted us when walking in, no one asked how our stay was going, and when we went to turn in room keys the front attendant didn’t say a single word. No thanks for your stay or have a good day. There was a chance of bad weather when we were checking in. I asked if they had a tornado shelter or somewhere they advise guests to go. The front attendant said she didn’t know. I asked if our room was close to a stairway since we were on the 4th floor. Again she said she didn’t know. They all seemed like they hated their job and that customers were an inconvenience.

The heated pool was green and cold Front desk guy less than helpful

Location was by several fun restaurants and downtown square.

Pretty good overall, had very few issues. We did have trouble with the TV working properly. The remote batteries might have been dead. The pancake maker for breakfast was also out of service.
