Other Hotel do give breakfast 🧇 for free and they are even less expensive They said check in time ⌚ was 4pm 🕓 but I got there thy said they are cleaning the room I have to wait more than an hour 👀

Once the system was back up and we checked in, we got interrupted twice during the night. Once when they gave someone else a key to our room. And an hour later when the manager asked for our last name. Amenities were just eh. Not very clean. Very old and outdated. Our ceiling in the shower had mold spores ALL over.

Rather than receiving accurate information from hotel staff, I learned the status from other guests. A hotel manager only weakly informed us that rooms were being double-booked with occupied guests and check-in would be delayed. I stood in line for two hours before receiving a room key. The room key I was given opened a room that was already occupied. Only because I knocked before entering did we avoid a serious incident with the current occupant. Mildew/Mold - Our room was at the end of one of the towers that strongly smelled of mold/mildew. This was substantiated when I entered a vending area and observed exposed pipes and a broken and stained ceiling with a sign indicating that vending service tower was not available.

Should not have to pay to park!

Staff was generally uninformed about both the area and hotel amenities. Also AC in room was not working (In July of all months) and did not get fixed or receive any credit for the room. Not 5 star.

Nice spot right in the heart of downtown Wilmington. One of the best valets I’ve ever experienced and all staff was so friendly. I would definitely stay again.

The overall stay was okay. The rooms and hotel over all need a huge upgrade. The property is close to all the shops and restaurants are with in a walking distance.

The property had a great location and the view from our room was very nice. The staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room however could use a remodel. There was no mini refrigerator, no complimentary bottles of water, pillows were flat, one comfortable chair, commode was 12 inches off the floor and the sink was only 3 inches deep and didn’t drain well. This was not the quality of an elite hotel. We would not stay there again.

There was only one working ice machine when we got there and when we went to get ice it was not making ice. Other than that, great hotel, close to everything downtown.

Clean room and great location

I was quite disappointed. While the location was great and we enjoyed the view of the river, the room was not as expected. Our room did not get cleaned daily as was promised, we never had water without going to the lobby, and the towels left a lot to be desired. Even with the blinds wide open, the room was dark and felt almost dreary, not cozy. And while I was aware there would be no fridge, one would have been nice. We paid for the view and that was about it.

I just want to start by saying I’m not one to leave a review at all especially not a bad one. Hotel view 10/10, location 10/10, staff very friendly, but it stops there. We walked in to our room and immediately noticed how sunken the middle of one of the beds was. We debated about what to do but decided to call and talk to staff. They came and assessed the mattress and agreed it was terrible. After waiting a while they brought a new mattress. The guy told us he would have house keeping come remake the bed. We asked if it was okay for us to leave or if we needed to stay until she came. He insisted it was fine if we left and it would be made when we got back. We arrived back at after 10p several hours later and found the bed had not been made. We called back, same guy came to “assess” as if we were lying. Finally the bed was made. We received room service one day out of 5. We had to call for towels and wash cloths everyday! Ran out of toilet paper. Trash overflowing. Toilet on the wall was so unlevel felt like you sat on a hill. Our parking cards stopped working several times leaving us stranded at the gate. I could go on but I have a word limit.

I actually didn’t realize when I was booking that this is the old Hilton Riverfront. Although it’s still run by Hilton, it’s the Hotel Ballast now. I stayed here years ago under the old name, etc and I could definitely tell several upgrades had been made. It’s walkable to the amphitheater but it does take a while. We went to a concert one night and stayed around the hotel the next. Downtown Wilmington is very walker friendly. We only left the hotel once, and that was to go to Jimbo’s for breakfast on Saturday morning. My only complaint about the stay was that the lighting isn’t great for putting on your makeup. Bring a travel lighted mirror if you have one.

My parking lot key did not work the next day when I went to the store, and I got soaked trying to use it. Had to move my car due to flooding in the parking lot. I was very disappointed that nothing was complimentary with the cost of the room. 24.00 a day to park is excessive for when the room is over 250.00 a night. Not to mention that was the smallest double room I've ever stayed in in my entire life. No microwave, no refrigerator nor coffee maker in the tiny room. I was curious why there was a safe in the room when the guest and staff only have access to the room. Can the maids not be trusted? Unfortunately, I will not be returning to this hotel.

We had a pleasant stay at ballast, however, the room was very damp, almost as if there was water damage in the hotel. Our clothes actually felt soaked that were in our suitcase. There was no refrigerator in the room which can be a huge problem for people that require medication to be refrigerated. The staff was kind as well as the GM that we met. The Italian restaurant on site was incredible. I just wish the rooms were a little bit more updated for what you pay, they are pretty outdated. The pillows are also very flat. Will likely not stay here again.

Great location. Definitely get a river view room. You can see the battleship from your window. Walking distance to bars and restaurants. Nice, clean rooms. Very comfy bed. Great valet staff.
