Holiday Inn Express & Suites Woodside LaGuardia Airport by IHG

My only reason for not giving it a 5 star was. I booked this hotel for the airport shuttle and when I arrived found out the shuttle had been discontinued in June. So we had to pay extra to get private transportation to and from the hotel.

Had a 7 night stay. Room was cleaned daily except for one day when it had been skipped. Was only given 1 bath towel on two separate days, but the front desk staff was always at the desk and resolved any problems quickly. Our 1st floor room was exceptionally quiet, even though it’s very near the LGA flight path, and was even quiet when the breakfast area had lots of activity just down the hall. The breakfast buffet had several choices for hot food: eggs every day either as scrambled eggs or omelettes; turkey sausage patties, pork sausage links; bacon on some days; cubed roasted potatoes some days and cubed sweet potatoes on others; sliced bread and bagels for toasting, juices, cereals, yogurt, hot sweet cinnamon rolls, mini muffins, and pancakes that came out of an automatic pancake machine that always seemed to be having problems. Breakfast staff was a mixed bag, a couple of the staff were friendly and helpful, although there was one older blonde lady that seemed more interested in talking with coworkers, scrolling on her phone, standing in front of food stations and giving exasperated sighs and eye rolls at patrons whose behavior she apparently disapproved of. Front desk staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the housekeeping staff were super nice and accommodating. Property was clean and well maintained. There are several options for food/groceries within a short walking distance. Laundry and fitness center on site, + 24 hr access to coffee machine was awesome!

Room was clean and bed was comfortable. The air conditioning made a very loud blowing noise all night and had an annoying light at bottom of thermostat that kept switching from green to blue. Breakfast was ok but nothing to write home about. Biggest issue was they have no parking. After arriving after midnight in the middle of a nor’easter I was told to find street parking. In Queens? I drove around for two hours before I kicked into a spot 4 blocks away and had to drag my large bag, backpack and tote through the rain. They didn’t care. So basically I paid a few hundred dollars for 5 hours sleep. Do not book here. Expedia said they had an airport shuttle, they don’t. They said they had parking, they don’t. What kind of a hotel has no parking? One you don’t want to hassle with. Save yourself some frustration.

The breakfasts are outstanding. Checking out is fast and easy. It was a pleasant experience.

Very clean, and the service is friendly as well.

The hotel was positioned well for going to the US Open. The gym could have been better but was typical for a hotel gym. The morning staff in the breakfast area were very pleasant.
