This is my to go place to stay when I travel to Ames IA. Have been staying here for over 10 years. The rooms are clean. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Front desk person (younger gentleman) was very helpful and friendly the first night. Older man next day was not. The BED had HAIR all over the bottom sheets and mattress covers. No exaggeration. We got there very late and only had to sleep there for one night so we just slept on top of the cover and asked for extra blankets.Several ants in the room. Loud AC that made a churning sound throughout the night . Our room wasn’t the only room because another woman complained about it at the front desk as well and said she would never stay at the residence again.Small but decent shower. Grout was a bit dirty. Breakfast was minimal and limited to all carbs. The he milk was spoiled.

The room was very run down. We stayed in a suite and the pull out sofa was broken. We made due as we had already unpacked, and I had a difficult time with the staff at check in already as the front desk person spoke very soft and quickly. She also seemed pretty annoyed with us and didn’t even say hello. The carpet was pretty nasty as well. It was kind of sticky. Overall, I would not stay here again.

Fairly clean. I did not have the breakfast, but it looked comprehensive. This is a good deal for the price.
-
The room was really humid- sheets and bedding were damp from the humidity in the room. The room also had a smell. Definitely an older hotel. Was okay if you just need a quick place to sleep, felt safe etc. just not my medium to top pick for a hotel.

Good place to stay

You aren’t going to beat this quality for the price. Excellent stay.

Clean facility but deadbolt could not engage in lock(it was misaligned). Food was OK. The staff very quite and reserved. No sense of humor.
-
I regret this booking. Not a nice place to stay.

Clean rooms, staff was friendly!

The room was clean, but there were some signs of wear on the carpet and a gouge or two on the furnishings. Nothing major, but...

The A/C didn’t work well. The toilet had problems flushing and made a really loud noise. The couch had large really questionable stains. I would not stay here again.

This was a good place to stay while traveling through.

The room was filthy. Couch was full of pet hair and black with stains. Bathtub bottom was black.

Cleanliness: Black spots all over the bedroom walls, carpet in bedroom was slightly sticky, and I found a small pill pug crawling on the wall. Staff: In the morning they were very attentive in the breakfast area. In the evening, there appeared to only be one person on staff, and they remained in the lobby sitting at a table for several hours. This made them easy to contact, however I felt rude interrupting them with their earbuds in. Sleeping: Bed was clean, and very comfortable. In the end: Hotel needs a deep deep clean, and you could easily find a better hotel in ames for just about the same price.

Nice stay for our quick trip.

Stained sheets, hair in bathtub

There are rooms on the first floor with no lock, no latch or deadbolt. When I asked to be moved to a room with a lock they said there were no such rooms and that nothing bad has ever happened here. I’m sure that is true but as a single woman traveling I did not feel very safe, something to keep in mind if you’re traveling alone! I had no other options because I got a deal on this room. Other than that the breakfast was good and the room accommodated me and my cat very well. The bathroom had a strange smell that wasn’t bad like waste but it wasn’t good either. The floor had a slightly sticky feeling in the bathroom and the room in general.
