Our biggest issue was at checkout. When we checked in, we arranged a late checkout of noon from the normal 11:00 time. The morning of checkout, we packed our bags, put them in the closet , left the "do not disturb" sign on the door and went off to a restaurant for breakfast. On our walk back at around 11:15, I received a call from the front desk saying that we had left items in the room (like all our luggage) and why hadn't we checked out. I informed him that we had a late checkout arranged, and he said he would let housekeeping know. When we got back to our room, housecleaning was inside and already cleaning, which really annoyed me. I told the lady with the clipboard that we had a late checkout arranged, and after checking the clipboard, she confirmed that it was noted and they missed it. You'd think once they saw our luggage in the room that a) they would check to see if we had a legitimate reason for not checking out by 11:00, and b) they would leave the room.

Impossible to sleep from all the street noise. Staff almost non existent

Room was good size, but not up to the standards of our $500 room. Breakfast was ok. Nothing great. No air conditioning. Would not stay there again n

Great location to downtown. Everything is within walking distance. I have stayed there on several occasions and would stay there again. Adequate breakfast, lots of shopping, good staff and free parking on street on weekends.
-
Very clean facility and had improvements for today’s tech world, but maintained character of historic property. Well located and close to shopping and restaurants
-
Great location in a unique old property. Large room with kitchenette. We enjoyed our short stay and had a good night’s sleep in a comfy bed. No night noise to bother you. Would recommend if you’re looking for part of Alaska history and not a big chain.

Now for the negative No air-conditioning in the rooms although there obviously used to be, there is ductwork for the air-conditioning and where a return vent used to be a sheet of plywood covering the hole. There is an amazing bar, but they don’t use it as a bar. They use it for storage. To call the breakfast mediocre would be an insult to mediocre, preformed eggs, cold oatmeal and Limited selection. I booked a suite for a family of four when I walked in the room and had to be at least 80° in there. I don’t think they opened the windows until just before we arrived. The mini fridge had not been plugged in. I had to pull it out and plug it in myself, and because it sits in the room, not plugged in there was visible mildew inside the refrigerator.. I also don’t think that the bathroom ventilation is working properly. It stayed hot and humid for hours after taking a shower.

A very nice stay, we highly recommend this hotel. Nothing.

Staff was great and welcoming. W No king bed available and I booked in January for a June stay. Indicates walking distance to the Alaska RR depot - you could walk but it was very far and done a steep hill. We Ubered.

Exceptional
-
Lots of good restaurants within walking distance. There are some unhoused people in the area, something to keep in mind. Less than 10 minute walk, all downhill, to the Alaska railroad. Thankfully we had nice, sunny weather so it was an easy walk.
-
Only negative…no AC. Fans are provided and windows open to let the breeze thru. Would stay here again. 2 blocks from convention center where Princess cruise buses from. Train station walking distance as well.
-
My only complaint was that it didn’t have air conditioning. It was probably listed as not having AC but I didn’t think to verify, so that’s on me.
-
Cool place to stay if you want to experience an older hotel with lots of history. No A/C or heating but they do have oscillating fans and space heaters. Older amenities. Cool physical key for room entry.

Just as described
-
Sure didn't look like what I expected. Advertising way over promised. Not worth anything close to price. Breakfast was very low quality for a $5xx room. Disappointed.
-
Great staff very helpful.

Very good
