    Perfect location, outstanding staff!

We stayed for one night. Even though it is a historic building, it will meet the needs of people traveling that want a nice clean , comfortable place to stay. Would go back again

There was no bellman to help with luggage, we had to take our luggage to our room and the thick carpet made rolling our suitcases a bit challenging. Thank goodness there was an elevator. The room was hot and they had opened windows and turned on portable fans. The fans were very dusty and not very appealing. Because it was so hot, at bedtime, we kept the windows open and the drapes, unfortunately the lights outside in area around the hotel were very bright and there were many of them. The bathroom was very small, the toilet was right by the bathroom door, no grab bars for safety in the shower. The breakfast was appetizing in the bar/dinning room and it was fun to chat with other folks staying there. The location was very central to downtown and lots of restaurants and fun things to look at. The trolley tour station was right across the street which was very convenient.

Late night check in receptionist was very nice. Had welcome cookies. Room was clean, very spacious. Did not have air conditioning and no screens on any of the windows. Breakfast variety was good but stopped refilling items 45 min before cutoff time. OJ was rancid.

Kellen was wonderful. He helped with our bags and found a hairdryer when ours was missing from our room. It is a beautiful, quaint hotel with lots of character. We recommend it highly. Laura and Jenifer. It would be nice to add some pastries, fresh fruit, and choice of bread for breakfast.

Charming, old world feel Could use some upgrading i.e. electrical outlets available But preserving the old world charm, which is challenging

Our biggest issue was at checkout. When we checked in, we arranged a late checkout of noon from the normal 11:00 time. The morning of checkout, we packed our bags, put them in the closet , left the "do not disturb" sign on the door and went off to a restaurant for breakfast. On our walk back at around 11:15, I received a call from the front desk saying that we had left items in the room (like all our luggage) and why hadn't we checked out. I informed him that we had a late checkout arranged, and he said he would let housekeeping know. When we got back to our room, housecleaning was inside and already cleaning, which really annoyed me. I told the lady with the clipboard that we had a late checkout arranged, and after checking the clipboard, she confirmed that it was noted and they missed it. You'd think once they saw our luggage in the room that a) they would check to see if we had a legitimate reason for not checking out by 11:00, and b) they would leave the room.

Impossible to sleep from all the street noise. Staff almost non existent

Room was good size, but not up to the standards of our $500 room. Breakfast was ok. Nothing great. No air conditioning. Would not stay there again n

Great location to downtown. Everything is within walking distance. I have stayed there on several occasions and would stay there again. Adequate breakfast, lots of shopping, good staff and free parking on street on weekends.

Very clean facility and had improvements for today’s tech world, but maintained character of historic property. Well located and close to shopping and restaurants

Great location in a unique old property. Large room with kitchenette. We enjoyed our short stay and had a good night’s sleep in a comfy bed. No night noise to bother you. Would recommend if you’re looking for part of Alaska history and not a big chain.

Now for the negative No air-conditioning in the rooms although there obviously used to be, there is ductwork for the air-conditioning and where a return vent used to be a sheet of plywood covering the hole. There is an amazing bar, but they don’t use it as a bar. They use it for storage. To call the breakfast mediocre would be an insult to mediocre, preformed eggs, cold oatmeal and Limited selection. I booked a suite for a family of four when I walked in the room and had to be at least 80° in there. I don’t think they opened the windows until just before we arrived. The mini fridge had not been plugged in. I had to pull it out and plug it in myself, and because it sits in the room, not plugged in there was visible mildew inside the refrigerator.. I also don’t think that the bathroom ventilation is working properly. It stayed hot and humid for hours after taking a shower.
