Wingate by Wyndham Anchorage Downtown/Ship Creek

Airport transportation was great, morning front desk was short and snippy. The hotel room appeared clean and smelled okay, however, the property does lack attention and is very outdated for the amount of money that we paid.

We had bugs in our room and mold in the shower. The shuttle was helpful but everything else was quite poor.

I should rate this 3 star hotel. Facilities are ok. Location is good. Breakfast is OK.

What didn’t I like about it… First, so many homeless people wandering around on the property, I really think there should be security. The room looked like it had recently been remodeled, or attempted. There was paint splattered all over the front door, the remodel construction was amateur to say the least, and the layout of the bathroom was ridiculous. The toilet in with the shower… Let’s just say it’s not the best layout. Had I known the hotel was right next-door to an active train track with trains driving by blowing their horns at least hourly through the night then I would not have booked there.

We booked just hours before check in, same day had to cancel our rooms, just hours later. They refused to refund our money and charged us full price for both rooms!

Not knowing Anchorage, we only had websites to rely on and it looked way better on line than it was in reality. It felt forlorn. Not in easy walking distance of cafes, and a slightly sketchy neighborhood. The airport shuttle service was poor. The shuttle serves several different hotel and we were at the end of the line, furthest away. It does, however, have free parking

Location is down a steep hill from downtown Anchorage. Near the train station, which is convenient,when riding the train. The train horn goes off all night and day and is quite loud. The continental breakfast is good. Was OK for the price.

The door to the room did not lock. The window had no lock and we were on the first floor. There was evidence of many break ins so we left immediately and will not stay there.

It was as expected. Relatively inexpensive and convenient to the train station. But it’s outdated, grungy, and there were bugs coming through a hole in the wall beside the tub. I knew what I was signing up for for a day and a half stay where I didn’t spend much time in the room.

Staff was helpful and the room was clean. Close to Ship Creek.

The location The property needs to be upgraded to represent the brand.

The nightly price is ridiculous. They get away with it due to the proximity to the train station. They have shuttle service but you can easily walk it even with roller luggage.

This trip is where I learned that all Marriotts are not equal. The room was dated and needing repairs, the breakfast was minimal and served with paper plates and plastic cutlery. The main reason to stay there was the proximity to the rail station. We appreciated the airport shuttle service.

The room was $500 a night. The only chair was plastic. The bathroom had not been updated. The staff was not helpful when I unfortunately booked twice. There was no coffee in the room. Location was a problem because it was half a mile up hill to go to any store or restaurant. They did have a shuttle to the airport which was nice. I would not recommend it to anyonel
