I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this hotel has been one of the most frustrating customer service experiences I’ve ever had. I spent an enormous amount of money staying at this hotel and expected a level of service consistent with its luxury reputation. Unfortunately, both the service and the way my reservation issues were handled were extremely disappointing. First, I stayed at the hotel for the night. While the property itself is beautiful, the service did not justify the premium price I paid. The biggest issue came afterward. I needed to cancel another three-night reservation, but the hotel refused to make any exception or provide even a partial refund. Then, I accidentally booked another reservation for July instead of June. I immediately contacted the hotel by phone. Multiple employees, including George, Ernesto, two other representatives, and Jonathan from Reservations, assured me that this would not be a problem. I was specifically told that if I canceled through Booking.com and booked a separate night for the correct dates in June, the hotel would approve the cancellation, and no cancellation fee would be charged. Following their instructions, I booked and paid for an additional night at the hotel, completed that stay, and then requested the cancellation exactly as I had been instructed. To my surprise, the hotel completely reversed its position. Booking.com informed me that the hotel refused to approve the cancellation, meaning I am now being charged the full amount for a reservation I was explicitly told would be canceled without penalty. What makes this especially upsetting is not just the financial loss, but the fact that several hotel representatives gave me the same assurance over the phone. I relied on their guidance and spent even more money because I trusted what I was told. The final response I received from the hotel was a generic, dismissive email showing no understanding of the situation or responsibility for the

The hotel has a very nice beach with comfortable cabanas and it is conveniently located if you plan to do some shopping at the Bal Harbour Shops. The rooms are extremely shabby and unkempt. The carpets are stained, the curtains are grimy, the bed linens are washed beyond repair, and the bathrobes have holes in them. This isn't a 5-star hotel, let alone a 4-star, 3-star place maximum. And it certainly doesn't offer the service and comfort you'd expect from a St. Regis chain.

The hotel charged me for the two night stay even though I paid ahead of time through Booking. Despite multiple attempts by me, Booking and American Express, and what is an obvious error, they will not respond so it appears their billing or accounting dept is incompetent. The stay was nice but not worth paying double an already expensive rate. Update: the hotel finally refunded me for the room. I appreciate them correcting their billing error, although I would have preferred to avoid the 8 phone calls and hours of time I wasted. I hope they review their processes and tech and modernize it to avoid this type of preventable issue in the future. Overall a nice property and great staff. Location is across from the mall, but otherwise a bit secluded. Beach is nice as always in Miami.
