Courtyard by Marriott Birmingham Homewood

I thought this was a new property. It’s renovated. The rooms are outdated.

The staff was friendly and helpful when I had interactions with them. However, the hair dryer in the room did not work at all. There were limited tv channels unless you logged into your account on the apps.

Nice place! We stopped over in Durango to knock around for a day and it was the perfect place to stay. Cool 1890s motif.

I was charged for several things that I don’t know what they were for and I tried to call the local Homewood location and tell them to take it off my bill. They told me when I checked out it wouldn’t be charged out yet. I was charged anyway, and the guy, the old man at the checkout at the check-in that night was so Nosy about my business so asking me all kind of questions. I wanted to talk to the manager. I called Monday and left a message and nobody’s called me back yet. See above. I called Marriott corporate and held for eight minutes and never got through either.

Thankfully the room was clean and mostly comfortable. We were on the first floor near an exit so we had to listen to a lot of door slamming. It would have been enough to keep me awake if I was a light sleeper. I was taken aback that the property charges a parking fee. I’ve never paid parking for a hotel unless the parking was in a garage. This seems like greed. There was only one person working the bar/cafe/dining area.

This was a great hotel find. My husband was having a procedure done at a nearby hospital (1/2 mile) and had to be there at 6 a.m. We live 2 hours away so decided to get a room. We were very pleased. Any time we are in that area we would definitely stay there! Staff was very friendly and accommodating, hotel was clean, room was very comfy.

Staff was friendly and helpful. The property itself feels a bit older - lots of carpets - and a bit dated. It was clean and comfortable, however, and a good location for us. Not nearly enough electric plugs, but that's a pretty common problem with older properties.

The bath needs to be bigger and a dressing mirror needs to be on the wall in the entrance to the bedroom.

When we checked in, the bathroom sink was in a disgusting state of cleanliness. Staff was quite sincere in their apologies and gave us a new room. We moved our things to the new room, only to find that a piece of furniture was about to fall apart. we just moved it out of the way and went to bed.
