Hyatt Place Birmingham/Hoover

When we went to the front desk to request sheets and pillows, we were told they only had a couple of sheets available and that all of the pillows were already in use. For a hotel, I would expect basic bedding to be available for the sleeping arrangements provided in the room. The next morning, we checked out around 7:00 AM and went to the front desk to get breakfast. We were told that no one had shown up to prepare breakfast, so there was none available. We knew the hotel was under construction when we booked, and we understood that. However, we didn’t expect the hospitality to feel like it was under construction too. Unfortunately, the lack of basic accommodations and customer service made for a very unpleasant experience. We were not happy with our stay and would not choose to stay here again.

They overbooked and turned me away. Place is under renovations so the entire front lobby is non existent. Stay away

This place is disgusting and will not give you what you want. The pictures listed do not match the actual property.

That does not make sense. I understand that requests such as a high floor, specific floor, or certain view may not be guaranteed. However, the room type and bed configuration are different. I specifically selected and paid for a double-bed room. A pull-out couch is not the same as a regular bed. The double-bed and King rooms are also listed online as different room types and are not the same price. If I wanted a King room with a pull-out couch, I would have selected that option. I contacted Expedia, and they stated that I should have received the room type I booked. I also spoke with Hyatt Corporate, and they apologized for what happened. I travel frequently and use Expedia often, and I have never experienced this before. I am still waiting for a response from management and have not received an apology or explanation from the hotel. If the hotel was sold out of the room type I reserved, I would have preferred an honest explanation rather than being told that the room I selected and paid for was simply a “request.” It appears the hotel may have overbooked that room type, but instead of explaining what happened, they treated my confirmed room category as a preference. Very disappointing experience.

This hotel was a complete construction zone and we were not notified ahead of time. Wires hanging from ceiling, lobby floors gone and most of it not open. We reserved a room with 2 double beds and a sleeper sofa. When I got there it was one bed for four people. When I went to ask I waited with 30-40 other people in lobby for several hours. The staff was trying but it was pure chaos. We ended up with one person on the floor and an adult on horrible pull out with no mattress. There was a dirty housekeeping rag in shower and the room was filthy. No blankets or extra pillows available. Other guests reported leaky sinks, cockroaches, broken electricity and a strong bleach smell in water. I would not recommend this place to anyone and would love to have a full refund.

I booked the rooms to take some clients golfing at RTJ. I was surprised to find the lobby in disrepair and under construction. This should have been told to me prior to my booking, I will not stay with Hyatt again.

Mattress was sunken in. Table was broken. The cleaner they used on the bathroom stunk up the whole room.

The staff was accommodating and polite. They were helpful with our request. The first room we were placed in had a musty smell, stained couches and carpet. We asked for another room and were placed in a cleaner room that smelled nice. However, the bathroom sink was clogged and we could not use. The toilet never stopped running, the mini fridge was not working, ants were climbing up the bathroom wall. There was hair all over the bathroom floor, and the AC did not keep the room cool enough. Also, we were not aware that the hotel was under renovations. The complimentary breakfast was a frozen pancake on a stick with an apple and juice. This was not up to par with the breakfast offered last time we stayed there.

Renovating and the free breakfast was a pancake on a stick, Sunny D and an apple. No hot breakfast. The bathroom tiles was falling apart. Very spacious room. Would stay again but we will wait til the renovations are complete. Very friendly staff

This was my worst experience at a hotel ever. We had ants and roaches in our room. The hotel is under renovation and between the dusky coming thru the vents had me and my husband sinus messed up. I tried to talk to the manager the morning when I checked out and she lied like she had a meeting to go to. They did move us to another room where the air conditioner wouldn't get cold. I will never stay at Hyatt place anymore. Hyatt Place in Birmingham.

The area was perfect it was by a lot of restaurants and it was not far from my work site. They are currently going through renovations so there was no free breakfast, and constant construction going on. I wish that was advertised during booking so I could have booked somewhere else, because there are hotels near by that offer the same amenities.

I enjoyed my stay the only problem was the bathroom sink the water was slow draining. Now they are doing renovations i still had a great stay, I will be booking again in the future.

The room was okay but the bathroom and shower had a lot of mold. Was expecting more transparency. When I tired to cancel they were gonna still charge me full price for the night

The lobby was completely torn up. Breakfast consisted of a frozen sausage biscuit that had to be microwaved. There was no microwave in the lobby, only in the room from which we had already checked out. The room itself had fallen into disrepair- chipped paint, missing shower door that was replaced by a curtain and the towel fixture coming off the wall. All in all, not what you expect from the Hyatt brand, and definitely not worth the high price we paid.

I sent a message to complain & ask for a refund for this stay. There was an ant infestation. They were in the shower, the floor if the shower, the bathroom floor, on the towels, and the walls. There was dry rot or something at the base of one of the corners of the wall. The handle of the shower had hard white residue on it. The sink faucet was dirty, with white residue. I went to adjust the a/c and there was another type of bug crawling on the a/c unit. The room smelled like smoke & old water. I kept the light on, afraid that something would be in the bed and crawl on me. All of this on top of the front lobby being renovated and dusty and no hot breakfast option. They should've started with room renovations & pest control. I also mentioned all of this to the front desk gentleman and was told that the property manager would call me. It's been 6 days, no call & no refund. I have pictures as well as videos.

Due to construction, lobby was a mess and no breakfast. However, the staff provided the guests with bag breakfast, which was delicious. Rooms were clean and beds were comfortable. Showers were slippery and a mat would have been useful. Construction in the lobby was inconvenient.

Staff is super friendly just hate that they didn’t mention they were renovating heavily so it made the experience way less desirable than it should’ve been.

Hotel is currently undergoing a renovation. Lobby is a construction zone and the breakfast area is closed. Lots of jack hammers and drills plus dust and debris in the lobby and parking lot. Room was nice and bagged breakfasts were provided. Location was convenient to the major roads.
