There are no elevators (as far as I know) so be ready to climb some cool old narrow staircases. The parking looks sketchy as hell. They have a shared lot right next to a tattoo parlor about a half a block away. It is, however, lit up with good lighting and has a 24/7 security camera. Ultimately I felt safe enough leaving my car there and it came out unscathed, but my spouse was not super-impressed or comfortable with it.

The booking process was very easy. The room was clean, comfortable and lovely. Minor complaint - no pods by the coffee maker on the 2nd floor. Bigger complaint - while the GM was very friendly, we were considering staying an additional night. We were told that it was against policy to match the rate we had for the night we stayed. We would have to pay today’s rate which was about $30 higher despite the fact that it was a Monday night and the hotel had vacancies. So we made the decision to move on.

Great place to stay! Clean, quiet and friendly staff. Easy check in and check out process. No complaints

The colours were very welcoming . No reception no lift and no fridge

Absolutely loved this stay, would book again! Staff was amazing, parking was simple, room was beautiful!

I will not be staying at the painted lady again. Also there was no way to get H2O so ya…

this place was amazing and the bed was SO comfortable. I didn't get a chance to let them know there was no hot water coming out of the sink and the bathroom door wouldn't close. luckily my bf and I are ok with that but that could be a problem for some couples.

Parking and check-in were easy. It felt like a cross between a hotel and an airbnb with door codes for the exterior and rooms. An attendant is only on site during the day but available by text. The room was spacious and comfortable, the bed plush, and the bathroom well-appointed. A communal hydration station on the floor offered filtered water and coffee pods. The location was a few blocks from historic downtown and centrally located. Self-parking was just down the street in a reserved lot. The one hiccup in our stay was the automatic lock on our room door got stuck. The door wouldn't self-lock. And since it happened early in the morning before the attendant arrived, we had to choose to leave our belongings unlocked for a few hours until her arrival or stay in the room.

My trip was put on hold by unforeseen weather conditions and I couldn’t get to my destination the day of my stay, the manager Ashley was awesome in allowing us through hotel.com to change our reservation to the next day. My stay at painted Lady was nothing short of awesome, the room was nice, clean and just what we needed for our stay. Will be my choice of stay if I ever visit Alabama again. Also great location so close to many things.

Beautiful room and bathroom; thoughtful coffee bar

I loved this hotel. A small note to my clumsy girl friends: watch yourself in the shower. She's a slippery one!

Beautiful, comfortable and clean. On site parking lot was a huge plus. No elevator… but that added to the charm and glad they kept the building in its historic beauty.

A great place to stay. Limited facilities in the room but there was a shared fridge and coffee facilities on the floor. The styling was wonderful! Split a/c in the room, great shower, bed very comfortable, enough space. Walking distance to eateries. Very quiet and on street and off street free parking available. There is no elevator/lift access so can be limiting to future guests.

The best things about this hotel is the vibe, free parking, and location. Things to improve on would be to repair the towel ring and holder in the bathroom, provide stronger hooks for the heavy drapes (in an effort to open the drapes to see outside, the heavy drape just fell off the flimsy hooks), and finally, maybe a drinking glass in the bathroom. A coffee maker like a Keurig in the main area would also be a welcome addition. I couldn’t rate staff because we saw no one. It was a “personless” check-in.

This is a really cool hotel! My room was beautiful and comfortable. Although there is no elevator, all I had to do to get help with luggage was to call, and I was helped right away. I highly recommend this hotel!

The lack of an elevator was scary for us as our room was on the top floor but the staff helped us adapt. It is a very comfortable place to stay.

Beautiful place!! It has so much personality, I loved it

The room was beautiful, we had no issues, but it’s literally just a room. You basically pay for aesthetics.
