Courtyard by Marriott Birmingham Downtown at UAB

The beds are extremely comfortable and soft, but not too soft. It was perfect after a looooong day of travel. The “weee wooo, weee wooo” of the ambulances were a little loud since my room was facing UAB.

location to UAB prices in the Bistro are too high.

Everything okay except for the check-in person. He was not very helpful after we explained we were not from the area and needed instructions on where to park our vehicle.

Staff were friendly. The hotel boasts they are connected to the UAB Hospital but it is connected to the parking garage accessible from outside. The parking garage takes you to the hospital. The room we stayed in was in need of repair and maintenance came the evening before we checked out. There is no microwave in the room but there is a dinky one in the ice machine area sitting on a shelf that looks like may slide off, no table to sit your food on and wonder if it is clean. We went through a third party to book our room. Our family had to have surgery. If you call the hotel directly as they recommend to get a room rate, you may be put on hold, as I was, and sent to the online reservation..which was of no help so we went third party, then had to cancel because family surgery was cancelled but the hotel said to call booking and we didn’t get a refund. You don’t need to go through all that when you have family in the hospital and they boast they are the hospital hotel, connected to the hospital…Sorry, but we’ve been through the ringer with hospital and hotel.

Just not what was expected for the price. I don't think I particularly liked anything. The staff was nice and helpful. Location is OK. Room was outdated. Looked old, smelled old, bathroom was dirty (I bring my own cleaning supplies for this reason). The cost does not match.

I wish there had been a continental breakfast.
