Very unique and beautiful building! Good location for sightseeing! Could have paid more attention to detail regarding cleanliness. Overall, great stay!
-
The hotel is under staffed - when went for check-out in the morning there was no one manning the desk eventually after 15 minutes had to leave card on counter and go and the coffee shop that was anchor for the hotel has closed
-
handle broken off of the bathroom door shelf missing from the bathroom, just brackets left on the wall mold in shower dirt on the floor ceiling HVAC very dirty

This hotel is simply worn out and needs a refresh. You have to park down the street in a garage. The area has a very sketchy feel. Felt like a ghost town in the lobby. Basically has a cheap motel feel.

It was 75F outside and my room was uncomfortably warm. Ac wasn’t keeping up

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were very clean. The bed was super comfortable. We were very happy with our stay there. We will stay here again

Great downtown location. Well maintained historic hotel

The room was decent and clean but the hotel was very old and smelled old and moldy. The air conditioner blew right onto the bed and we were forced to turn it off as it was so uncomfortable blowing on us. There is some sort of bar next door and we got a sketchy greeting from some men in front of there when we arrived. I was more than a little concerned that I had driven a nice vehicle to this neighborhood and was pleasantly surprised that nothing happened to our car. We just did not get a sense of safety at this location. The elevator indicator did not work it was stuck on 5 but the front desk person said it only went to 3? We used it a couple times then opted for the stairs. There was no one in the lobby except for when we went up to the front desk and they came out. It appeared to be deserted every other time we went through the lobby. I would not recommend this property.

The rooms are very well set up decor is super cool

Our room was great but the rest of the hotel was dingy. No amenities. We had to go out just to find a decent cup of coffee. Great old building but did not feel welcoming.
-
The room (we had a standard king) was nice. Very soft, comfortable bed and towels. It was nicely decorated including a coffee maker, iron and board, and even a wine opener. It did not however include a mini fridge or a safe - and the shelf in the bathroom was missing. But everything was clean, and well maintained and the rooms were pretty quiet. Overall a great property if you want a great location and something different from the generic, corporate style hotels. I’d try one of the suites next time.

With vibes of the Overlook Hotel in "The Shining" this century old building has the look and feel of a dowager with art deco accents of a premier structure of the early 20th century. The Hotel occupies only the second floor of the building. The rooms are clean but maintenance is lacking, some fixtures were inoperative or loose. It is telling that the front entrance is usually locked and people entering have to ring for entry. The front desk staff is very friendly and accommodating. Parking is one block away and often crowded but the hotel provides a pass for charges. Dining and markets are all at least 1/2 mile away.

Check-in easy. Property was clean, parking voucher at close by garage worked well, loved the history of the property. Only disappointment was adjacent coffee shop was shuttered and limited dining options near the hotel. Discovered nice little breakfast spot and bakery, Lunch Box open during work week. That being said the Lafayette was lovely.

This is a classic, preserved hotel with a fabulous high-class history. For preservationists, the perfect hotel! The lobby has a display of postcards, matchbooks, dishes, silveware and other objects that tell the history of this glorious hotel. What a past life it had! Would have liked to visit the piano lounge (so retro and cool-looking) but understand those days of hanging out at a hotel lounge are mostly gone forever. My room was modern, updated but just a little worn around some of the edges. Nothing major.

I made a complaint after 2 days and left the hotel due to cleanliness and safety issues. Ive contacted hotels.com and wyndham and have yet to hear back and will now contact my credit card company. Plaxe was absolutely disgusting

A unique and beautiful hotel designed by the first recognized woman architect. We were very comfortable. Next door is the Central Library with an outstanding Rare Books Collection. In walking distance to coffee shops, restaurants, and fabulous Buffalo architecture. We will gladly stay here again.

Exceptional
-
This historic property is filled with art deco touches. The bed was comfortable, shower pressure good, soft towels. We were disappointed that there is no on site food option, particularly for breakfast.

It was a very interesting place to stay. Good location, and convenient. We enjoyed our stay.
