I was very disappointed with how the front desk initially handled an unexpected payment issue during check-in. I traveled from California to New York specifically to take the Bar Exam and had booked a four-night stay. My credit card had more than sufficient available credit—the credit line was far above the approximately $3,000 hotel authorization and had previously been used for much larger payments, including tuition. However, after my primary residence changed from New York to California, Bank of America apparently reduced my daily transaction limit to below $3,000 for security reasons without notifying me. I only discovered this when the hotel authorization was declined. It was already after 7 p.m., and I spent about 30 minutes trying unsuccessfully to reach Bank of America. I explained the situation to the front desk and proposed several alternatives, including paying in cash or being allowed to check in that night and resolving the card limit with BOA the next morning. I was not asking the hotel to waive payment, only for a reasonable temporary solution. However, every option I proposed was rejected, and I did not feel the staff member made a meaningful effort to explore alternatives or escalate the issue. I was already under considerable stress preparing for the Bar Exam, and this situation kept me at the front desk for approximately two hours, taking away valuable preparation and rest time. Eventually, a more senior staff member stepped in. Unfortunately, I do not remember his name, but he was extremely kind and helpful. He listened to my situation, contacted a manager, obtained additional authorization, and allowed me to check in and rest that evening while the banking issue could be addressed afterward. I was very grateful for his assistance. His help also demonstrated that a reasonable solution had been available. Had the original staff member shown the same willingness to help or escalated the matter earlier, much of the 2 hour delay and unnecesary

Exceptional
-
Close to Bison's stadium, easy walk. Location wasn't the best but to be fair, seemed like Blthe rest of downtown Buffalo wasn't any better.
-
The room was immaculate. Staff friendly and professionally.
-
Absolutely beautiful property. Even better than I had imagined.
-
Loved the 3 head shower. And the heated toilet seat. Sheets were a little starchy

Room and facilities were adequate but below my expectations for “Buffalo’s only 5-star hotel”. Shower was very nice with several fun options for alternate shower heads and strong water pressure. I had an 8am flight out and the valet didn’t open until 7am (no one told me this when I checked in with complimentary valet) and the front desk person had no idea how to get my car keys at 6:15am. After 30 minutes we finally were able to get the keys to head to the airport and I almost missed my flight.

The room was lovely and the shower was exceptionally luxurious! We couldn't hear any noise in our room, making it a quiet/relaxing stay.

I have never experienced a more helpful and pleasant staff! Every single member I came in contact with was friendly, helpful and eager to chat. My room was lovely and comfortable. The drapes didn't work, so I had to do them manually, but no big deal. The two things I wish were different: no ice machine on the floor. I didn't want to call down to have ice brought up, because I didn't have any cash for a tip. It would be better if I could have least gone and picked it up somewhere. Not a huge deal. The second thing was the fact that I could not get room service breakfast. I appreciate the complimentary breakfast served downstairs; however, I prefer to take my time in the morning and enjoy my coffee and a bite at my leisure. I did not avail myself of the breakfast as I did not want to have to get dressed before I was ready. Even if it was available on the weekends for those guests interested in a slower start, it would be nice. I can't say enough about the Spa. Incredible treatments and wonderful technicians. I can't wait to return to the Curtiss for another luxurious weekend.
