The hotel was hot and had an odd small.

Everything good

The blinds were not wide enough to cover the opening and light was from outside was affecting the room. The Tv was an ancient 27” inch, bathroom ceiling paint was cracked and wall behind the door had a very poor touch up paint job.

During breakfast the woman attending to it was in the way the whole time and rude and she told a boy to just go sit down
-
Free parking, good breakfast. Clean facility. Although the rooms were little compact, but the facility was clean. Walking distance to the branch metro, easy for downtown commute.

Good for the city! Not my favorite city

I’ve stayed at 5 star properties and routinely the jetted tubs dysfunction if they function at all. Haven’t had that issue once here. The housekeeping staff is on point and the stay in the lobby is extremely accommodating and patient when needed.

Nice property

The knob in the bathroom for the shower was to was very difficult push and pull out to turn on the shower. I was provided clean towels late in the afternoon after requesting them that morning. Room service enter the room without me being there and left all the trash from the night before, and didn’t fix the beds. Most of the sockets and usb option wasn’t working. The entire room and including the lamb refrigerator ,iron and iron board was extremely dated. The rugs inside and outside the were old and dirty, my allergies flared up more than usually, the air outside was better. The breakfast options were limited and the hot food, became food was cold. I truly had a bad experience.

The swimming pool was really the only good thing about staying here. The staff were unfriendly and treated us like an inconvenience. The first room upon arrival was a complete disaster. The ac units are completely outdated and it was broken. The refrigerator was also broken and would not get cold. The shower rod was hanging so it was impossible to shower. They only gave us 2 towels for 3 people for 2 nights. When we went down to the desk to address the issues we were met with attitude. They even called maintenance and they were not going to give us another room until the maintenance man told them it was impossible for us to stay there. The next room also only had 2 towels and the ac barely worked. When we asked for more towels the hostess made the statement "Ohhhh you're the towels lady"! We felt discriminated against for being the only white family in the hotel and treated like we were burdens. And side note...the entire hotel smelled like Marijuana and we caught staff just smoking blunts on the property....Marijuana is for adults to enjoy and children should not be subjected to it. We paid 434$ for a 2 night stay for this mistreatment and inconvenience. I will never recommend Holiday inn express to anyone. The Hampton Inns have much better properties and staff. We were very dissatisfied as this was a major trip for our son. He had never experienced DC and this ruined the whole experience.

Upsides:This hotel was decent for the price. Breakfast staff were friendly and always doing something. when we requested towels we received them in a timely fashion .The place was relatively quiet and relaxing. Downsides:The pool was unaccessible through the hotel, when following inside signs, it led you to a locked gate on the outside of the pool . In order to access the pool you had to go to the first floor, through an open outside door, which remained open for most of the day. To a different unlocked gate on the outside of the pool.We stayed there three nights and all three mornings. The breakfast items never changed. Which can get a bit boring but at least it was there and always ready on time.
