Pine Inn

Trash & delivery trucks start at 6am & go all day. We had nice ocean view. Not a pet friendly lodging so we won’t be returning since we usually bring our small dog to Carmel. We usually stay at Carmel Country Inn which is far superior in our opinion.

Hated the bed; no mattress pad under sheets and pillows were huge foam bags unsuitable for sleeping. Staff were wonderful as was the parking. Fan provided was a noisy window fan and it was impossible to open a window in the room.

I was genuinely surprised when I opened the door. My room looked nothing like rooms pictured on the hotel’s website. I understand this is Carmel’s oldest hotel and its historic character comes with limitations, but I still expected the room to resemble what was represented online. Instead, I felt I had been given one of the hotel’s least desirable rooms. It was exceptionally small, tired and basic. The bed appeared to be full-size because that was all the space allowed. The closet and luggage rack were useful, but the closet light operated with a pull string, reinforcing the dated feel. To be fair, the bed and pillows were comfortable, the location was excellent—right in the heart of Carmel’s shopping area—and free parking was a definite plus. Unfortunately, my room was directly at the top of the stairs, and there is no elevator. Because the hotel was hosting a wedding party that weekend, the noise and foot traffic were hard to ignore. The bathroom was almost comically small. The shower was in a bathtub with a curtain that repeatedly clung to me, and the extremely low toilet had very little surrounding space. What bothered me most was the disparity between the online photos and the room I received. The photos suggested charming, comfortable accommodations; my room was small, dated and utilitarian. Bottom line: Great location, free parking, and comfortable bed. Otherwise, disappointing. Confirm the room first!

We plan to return to the Pine Inn at a future date. The old world charm and being so close to shops and dining was what attracted us to the Pine Inn.

Parking was an issue if you went out late. Too many steps, property was a little outdated

We were somewhat surprised that there was no air conditioning and elevator.

Not enough parking. Make sure you are ok with no air conditioning. Otherwise, very friendly staff and clean room.

Nice old hotel. Staff was good, room was nice. Some of the furniture could be updated like the two chairs in the room. Our room, 8, had some ocean view, which was nice. Excellent location.

Room was clean but worn, restaurant closed all of our stay for private events including breakfast which was not told to us in advance. No coffee in room and they gave us ADA room which we didn’t want or ask for. I find those rooms depressing. Would not go back.

Do not stay here if you're looking to have a good night's rest! You will be woken up to at 5am by a parade of garbage trucks, recycling trucks dumping glass bottles, delivery trucks and loud staff outside your window. It doesn't matter if the window is open or closed. The rooms are also super tiny, there's only room to walk around the bed. Our Honeymoon stay ended in disappointment.

Disappointing

This is a charming inn in a very old building. The hotel is advertised as having air conditioning, but not all the rooms have it (ours didn't and it got very hot). The carpets, appliances, etc. are all very old so just set your expectations before you book.

Beautiful rooms, friendly staff, perfect location. Couldn’t ask for more!! Can’t wait to book another stay!

Parking

The parking lot is too small to fit all guests. We spent around 30min finding a place to park.

The Pine Inn is a lovely hotel with great history. The location on Ocean Ave. is ideal.

We had a wonderful stay at Pine Cove Inn. The hotel is centrally located to great shops and restaurants. It was a little noisy at times with trash pickup.

Older, historic hotel with great service, a great location, a nice restaurant and is close to the beach, shops and restaurants. Carmel is lovely and is a very walkable. We had a room with a view, free parking and we enjoyed staying here. Hotel has not been updated in a long while and needs updating.

Loved the location. Our room was clean but we could not open the windows due to the strong smoke smell coming from the restaurant grills/ wood burning ovens so the room was stuffy due to no ac. DO Not Book room 19 if you want to be able to open the windows!
