Villa Mara Carmel

My wife and I came here to celebrate our honeymoon and we couldn't have picked a better place to do so. They made us feel special with champagne and flowers and it was perfect to unwind after the wedding. The breakfast in bed was stellar with the best almond croissant we’ve ever had. The slice of cake was just a lovely touch when hanging out by the fire with a glass of wine. The pleasant aroma of Sental 33 throughout the room and shower products made you feel engulfed in luxury. The beautiful landscaping of cacti and ivy made you feel transported to a different country. It was an intimate, private experience but also had a communal atmosphere at the same time. The attention to detail really does make the experience while maintaining a cool personality and style. Very special thing they got going on. Villa Mara helped us fully relax and just enjoy being newly married. Thank you for this and we will be back in the future! Drew and Julianna

A lovely boutique hotel a block from the water. Wonderfully helpful staff. Great breakfast and evening cake. Quick access to town. Will definitely stay again when in Carmel.

We stayed for 3 nights and it was great. The staff are very attentive and they provide us with great customer service. When we check in we receive a free drink and in the property there are fire places where you can sit and enjoy a drink.

Love this place, just 2 minutes from the beach and a 25-minute walk to downtown Carmel. The staff are first class, with George in particular standing out. Our room was upgraded upon arrival and was beautifully decorated. The complimentary mini bar and snacks were a lovely surprise, and the breakfast was delicious.

This has become a yearly tradition for us. The location, staff, rooms are exceptional. Food is excellent. A very quiet place to relax and refresh!

Tough to find good accommodations in Carmel. This place was very nice. Too pricey for what you get but with such limited options this was our choice. Hotel says ocean views and that just isn’t true. But we didn’t come to Carmel to hang out in our room. Biggest issue here is parking. No parking lot just take your chances finding someplace on the street. Staff was truly exceptional! Yes would stay here again given the alternatives.

The water is very hot. The floors were heated even the toilet seat was heated. The whole experience was very luxurious and clean. They provide you with everything you might need minus clothes so no worries if you forget your toothbrush or your loofah. The “front desk” was actually a bar where one of the staff was making us a drink while he checked us in and made restaurant recommendations. Breakfast options were light but filling enough to where you could have an early lunch in a few hours or second breakfast right away. You have full access to the mini fridge and snacks in the room at no additional charge. I like that they provide cake at 7 PM every day. The only con I could find is that the rooms are VERY close together so you will hear noises from people walking around upstairs or next-door or even in the lobby. Everyone was very mindful of being quiet at night, but there’s only so much you can do with noise of walking. This place is a house renovated into a hotel so you won’t find amenities such as pools, fitness centers, spas or anything of the sort. They do have fireplaces around the property with cozy seating areas of all sorts; and the bar of course. They have cafe style tables with outlets for charging near each one where you could comfortably work. I’d 100% stay again.

I loved my stay at Villa Mara Carmel! The room was super clean and comfortable, and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. They had tons of great recommendations for things to do around town. And the breakfast—wow. I almost never eat breakfast, but this one was seriously amazing and totally worth it. Such a great experience overall!

Great, friendly and hospitable staff. Clean, comes w/ a mini bar w/ treats and they provide toiletries you can possibly need. Enjoyed a very relaxing and pleasant stay. Will stay over and over again.

It was all perfect! My wife and I were on a road trip with our 16’ Airstream and I was concerned about parking two vehicles in Carmel. The staff was very helpful and they moved their own cars to make room for our caravan. Lovely place, we’ll definitely be back.
