Sonesta Select Charlotte University Research Park

I can't even lie

Checked in, got our keys, arrived at room and others were already there in the room. Went back to the front and front clerk was unaware that anyone was already in the room assigned to us. Moved to another room, and the door was propped open when we got there? We were told sometimes the housekeepers do this. At this point we did not feel comfortable or safe in the way that rooms were handled. The smoke detector had been disabled and was hanging off the wall, Room smelled strongly of smoke/musty. The bathroom was dirty, hair in sink, on toilet, and in bath. There was mold/watermarks evident on the walls, etc. Air conditioner made lots of noise, but worked. We were in one of the larger rooms so were stuck. The staff did come and fix the detector and cleaned the bathroom. No other resolution was offered. The bedding at least seemed clean and the room was large. The cafe was not open in the morning. It just did not feel like a well maintained hotel worth the price we paid.

Location Not clean carpet in the hallway very dirty and room was not to clean .

Cleanliness,location and it was comfortable

convenient to the University but the hotel was poorly up-kept. Mildew in shower. Rowdy guests, Missing fire alarm (only empty bottom part on wall). Smell in hall from old carpet or unknown???

The price Everything in the hotel are old, worn out. The hall way, elevator are dirty. The sofa in the room is old and dirty(the seat and arms). One of the towel is very gross with food waste dry out on it.

The room was everything I thought it would be! Loved the balcony view.

.

Room was spacious & clean. Tv service was super outdated like analog tv that cut off randomly and lamp where the bulb goes was showing a wire.

Fridays next door is very sketchy with a lot of gang members wearing colors (red). This was on a Saturday night.

Bad

The place smells bad, towels had blood on them. Holes/cracks in the wall, it felt dirty.

My reservation was canceled the day of our arrival. I tried to call and verify but no answer from the person that called me.

I think overall the property could use an overhaul. The carpeting on the first floor was not in great condition, my room including. The screen in the room was ripped as was the couch in the room. Only decaf coffee available in the room while not the biggest deal was just one more thing that seemed to be lacking. The parking was fine and location was good for the event.

Better smart tvs

The light over the sink did not work. The hand soap by the sink was practically empty and we had 2 shampoos and no soap in the shower.

I am grateful for the one night stay. The staff were friendly and the room was clean.

Staff was excellent very accommodating. Room was clean, nicely cooled and bed was comfortable. Iron and mini fridge in room and a coffee station.

The young lady at the front desk who checked us in was very polite and helpful. When we arrived to our room we noticed the bathtub faucet had a bad leak and the tub was full of water, almost overflowing. The bath mat hanging on the edge of the tub was soaked but helped prevent the tub from overflowing. If we had checked in at a later time the tub would have overflowed. The room smelled like a dog and there were large crumbs and pieces of dog biscuits along all of the bases of the furniture and a/c unit.
