Perfectly located in downtown! Walking distance to most scenic sites.

This is very nice hotel and very clean and they are very friendly! I appreciate it and it was close to lollapalooza

Room was pretty clean, since it is an older building there tends to be a lot of noises with the building but it didn’t bother us too much but we’re also not light sleepers. We’ve always had the best experience here!

    Not worth for the money.

The Marriot was a very nice hotel. What was not nice about my stay was the random charges and unexplainable change to my bill. I called the front desk and they lied and stated the charges were for things that we didn't even ask for. When we went down to the desk and made them print out an itemized bill, they ended up charging us for room service, parking, and a "destination fee" which was not stated when checking in that is a mandatory fee that basically means nothing.

Marriott in downtown Chicago is older than the Marriott Marquis near the convention center but it is more convenient with its location on Michigan Avenue. The rooms are basic but clean. The lobby is busy with an active bar in the center. It is a good business hotel.

Paid $75 for early check in for a dirty room! Bathroom had hair everywhere and black stains in shower on floor. Floor was also cracked. Stains on ceiling in various places! Vents were really dusty and dirty. After being moved to another room, we had to ask for additional wash cloths and towels each day! Each time we left our room, there was something left in the hallway beside our door - one day tub of dirty linens and trash, another day and empty, unmade crib! Upon check out we were told that we could not get a print out of folio because they had been so busy with Customers that printer was broken. I thought we were a Customer! Told we would get it via email but never received it. Went back to desk later and saw others getting print out so we asked for one and were given a printout! The absolute worst Marriott Bonvoy property we have ever stayed at!

We loved our stay. We would definitely come stay here again. Highly recommend!

They certainly do not like customers that make reservations under a “3rd party” and they made that very clear. Considering how expensive everything was, we didn’t even have the basics in the bathroom (qtips, toothbrush-i’m not even sure if this counts as “basic” anymore.) Valet also took too long, they have a small driveway and you just sit there-I had to call front desk and ask if they were even offering it.

Also, I was given a handicap room and I’m not handicap. The rooms are not as nice as the photos make them out to be.

The access-to-lounge booking was also misleading. We expected a true lounge experience, but it was closed at 12:00 pm, and in practice there was only a very basic breakfast available until 10:00 am. That was disappointing and not what we thought we had booked. The elevators were another major issue. We were on the 41st floor, and even allowing for a busy hotel, it seemed that only 2 or 3 of the 6 elevators were actually working. We had to budget 5 to 10 minutes just to get on an elevator, which was frustrating and added a lot of inconvenience to the stay. Overall, this is a good option for location, but the room size, the misleading lounge access, and the elevator situation made the stay fall short of expectations.

    Good location. That’s it.

We stayed in a room that was between 81 to 84 degrees for nearly 48 hours during a Chicago heat wave in July. We were initially told the hotel’s air conditioning system was down, but by the next day, all of the common areas—including the hallway outside our room—were cool. It was clear that the problem was specific to our room, where the air conditioning never came on. Over a 30-hour period, we requested assistance 6 times and were repeatedly told that engineering would come, but no one showed up. I had undergone a medical procedure that day, and the excessive heat made it difficult for me to breathe and recover comfortably. I spoke with the manager on duty three times, but she was dismissive and insisted that the room simply needed time to cool down, despite my explaining that the unit wasn’t running at all. Someone was finally sent only after multiple calls and an in-person visit with her at the front desk. Equipment failures happen. What matters is how they’re handled. In this case, management showed little concern for our situation and treated us as though we were complaining rather than addressing a legitimate issue. That was the worst and most disappointing part of our stay.
