The valet and front desk staff were all exceptional! Friendly and attentive, seemed knowledgeable and provided great service. The view (paid for the King room with a View) was exceptional as well! I booked this night as our vacation for the year. This was all we could afford for the entire year. I had 3 expectations - an exceptional room with an incredible view, a day at the riverfront, and our first rooftop experience. I called when I booked and then confirmed at registration that we did not need reservations for the rooftop, it is first come first seated. We arrived at the 3rd floor that evening to find a sign that read Rooftop Closed for a Private Party, for the entire evening. I BOOKED THIS HOTEL BECAUSE OF THE ROOFTOP EXPERIENCE. At the front desk they were not aware of the rooftop being closed when I went down, crying, and asking for a recommendation. We called and walked around for 90 minutes attempting to get another rooftop experience but with no reservations were unable, We had a terrible meal in your lobby restaurant, I would definitely not recommend that place to anyone, the salmon was overcooked and obviously not fresh, for $33. Next time I am going to London House - just a little bit more money but you can get a guaranteed reservation at their rooftop and its on the 25th floor, not the 3rd. NEVER COMING BACK, AND TELLING EVERYONE!!

I felt like the wallpaper was a little dreary. Could use a facelift there to brighten things up in the hallways.

We enjoyed our stay at Renaissance. The staff were amazing! I especially want to highlight Jon from concierge. He was wonderful to work with and helped make our sister’s birthday special. The only negative is that the hotel is dated as far as the rooms and they could’ve been cleaner. We also didn’t get a chance to utilize the resort fee amenities so we feel like money was wasted there. I wish that was optional.

The room we stayed it, a 20th floor suite, was practically perfect. The bathroom vanity had sharp chips at the bowl rim/front edge and the carpet was very torn in one spot. Dirty windows are to be expected in Chicago. None of these were awful nor deal breaking. The amenities were great, the bed was comfy and I can't complain about anything else. I would certainly stay here again.

The hotel check in was smooth and easy! Our room was clean and comfortable with a great view of the river. The workout rooms were well equipped and pool area is large and bright (but lacks an outside sun deck). This hotel is located in an excellent spot for enjoying the Riverwalk, walking to the Lake front, shopping on Michigan avenue and easily getting to lots of great dining options. Would stay again!

It was very noisy in the lobby area and I had a hard time hearing the front desk people. We also had an unexpected wake-up call at 3am sunday morning where they called us multiple times as well as knocked on our door. We never asked for a wake-up call.
