Extended Stay America Select Suites Columbia Gateway Drive

Just please don't go here. It was so gross. I don't think anyone has done any updates since the 70s. The door hinge didn't even look like it closed securely. We left within 5 minutes to find something elsewhere.

Great room at the price! Very conveniently located and the staff was extremely friendly!

There didn't seem to be any vending machines or ice available. Maybe it was somewhere I didn't look. No coffee available in room or in lobby. There is a Dunkin within a short walking distance. No staff on past a certain hour seems weird.

The hotel itself looks a bit rundown. But truly, our worst experience was with our room. We stayed in one of the suites, which needed much upkeep. It was especially dirty. There were hairs on our blankets and in between the bedsheets. There were stains on the ceilings and the walls. There were even roaches in the room. When we try talking to someone in the front desk, there was hardly anyone there. We also tried calling more than once and no one answered the call to the front desk. I have pictures of everything.

Location was not too far from where we needed to be. Customer Service was not the most courteous. Room was stale smelling. No plates or silverware provided at an extended stay hotel that advertises such. We were told we had to provide our own. Lock on door to use deadbolt was not fully functional. Toilet leaked by the back seal. You could see where at some time the door had been forced open. Police were called to hotel while we were there.

I had a reservation for two nights. When I arrived a little after check in time they told me to check back in an hour because they were still cleaning the room. I checked back over an hour later and was told they were still “cleaning”. I saw there where others sitting in the lobby also waiting and not getting their rooms. That is when I found out they had overbooked the hotel . I asked if I did indeed have a room and if it would be available later that night. I was told that I did indeed have a room. However, there was never a room for me either night and I had to drastically change my plans and find another place to stay much further away.

You booked me a room at an overbooked hotel and I did. Not get to stay there. I want a refund for any expenses you took because of the severe inconvenience it cost me … o missed my event I went to Columbia for because I had no hotel to stay in and had to find another hotel… it cost me my business opportunity because I missed my meeting due to no hotel . I will never book with Expedia again

Not a great hotel. Do not recommend.

We stayed two nights. Property was nothing fancy but it was affordable, clean and comfortable. Close enough to everything we wanted to do in Columbia and close to the airport. I would stay here again.

Dump

Our room for 2 nights was not clean ... it smelled overpoweringly awful - like pet feces and urine. The carpet definitely needs to be replaced. We would have asked for a different room, but the hotel was overbooked for the weekend and the front desk was turning people who had reservations away. And there was no shampoo or soap in the bathroom, and there were not enough bath towels or washcloths ... had to go buy all of those items from a nearby Target.

Needs upgrades

The room itself is basic, and moderately well maintained. Other than the kitchen, amenities included a bar of soap, plastic cups, bath towels and washcloths in the bathroom. The mattress was quite rigid.

Check in took 25 minutes. Our shower did not work the night we arrived and maintenance could not fix it. They brought a bucket with a pitcher to our room so we could pour water over our heads while standing in the shower. We were told when we woke up we could come to the front desk and get a new room for our second night however at 7 o’clock in the morning we were awoken by a loud banging noise. It was maintenance and they fixed it which was good, however, this was not the resolution that was discussed the previous night with staff. We were expecting to wake up leisurely and then go get a new room. On top of these issues, the bathroom appliances were absolutely filthy and disgusting. The enamel was chipping off of the bathtub. The bathroom vanity had burn marks on it and the worst part is they didn’t put any shampoo in the shower. You had to go to the front desk and ask for it. Never in my life have I ever stayed at a room where you had to go to the front desk and ask for shampoo. The hallway smelled like cigarettes and because it’s an extended state, you have a lot of unsavory types of people who live there so it feels very unsafe.

But you look out the window or come through the front door and the trash cans are running over. Not a good look.

Warm, welcoming staff and comfortable accommodations. Looking forward to my next visit at this property. The staff truly cares about their guests.

Front desk is shut down until 9am and it not reachable for towels, key issues, etc. Rooms need updating.

room was servicable and clean. and the water was hot. Bed was uncomfortable. Renovation is probably overdue for facilities.
