This was our family's first Bed and Breakfast experience and we were highly impressed. Both Ken and Christal were the best hosts and practiced great customer service and practice wonderful culinary skills. The inn is perfectly located and the property is beautifully maintained. I would love to return.

I had an entire apartment suite to myself with my car parked just next to it. The bed, bath, terrace, gardens with gazebo- all superceded my expectations. There were fresh flowers at my bedside, a personal Christmas Tree in the parlor of my suite, as well as crystal goblets for my self-provided drink after my evening out. The fantastic breakfast seemed right out of a fine dining magazine!!!! The historic home, seemed busting with relics!! Simply put, it was an enchanting stay. I wish I had had more time there- They even assisted me to have another solo guest of theirs’ to do a ride share with me as I wanted to make sure someone was looking for my return to the cottage I was unable to have the historic presentation which, I understand was to be over a meal.

Quaint and centrally located - breakfast was a gourmet delight. Hosts were very welcoming, friendly and accommodating. It took a while for hot water to arrive at the bathroom sink but the shower/tub was faster.

Ken and Crystal were so attentive to any of our needs. Breakfast was a gourmet experience. The beds are incredibly comfortable. Ken kept the conversations going among all of the guests as well in the beautiful garden that won my heart seeing the southern roses that only blume in the fall. It's no doubt that they love this historic inn. I hope that you are fortunate as us to stay at the Chestnut Cottage Bathroom lighting for my husband to shave.

My husband and I were in town for our daughter’s graduation from the University of South Carolina. The weekend was made more memorable by Mary (owner / proprietor) and her Chesnut Cottage. The cottage is a quiet gem in Columbia. Mary went out of her way to make sure that we had a great weekend with our daughter. She even offered to drive us to the graduation commencement when there was a little snafu. The cottage is great and the breakfast was quite tasty during our three day stay. Bottom line: instead of staying at the Marriott or one of the other corporate hotels while visiting Columbia, you should try the Chesnut. Nothing. It was a great visit.
