Garner Hotel Doswell Southeast by IHG

It was a great hotel. The staff was very friendly, and the Hotel was great. However, the property needs some renovations.

The elevator was broken but i was on the 2nd floor suite not so bad until! The toilet in the bathroom seat was broken and there was black mold on the ceiling near the shower. They couldnt do anything until the last day we were there and wanted us to move to the 3rd floor and it being the last day that would be an inconvenience for us so we stayed and bore through it. Normally, when last we were here things are much better and for the price on the suite with proximity to the amusement park so close, its the best deal many are unaware of.

The location No clean towels the next day had to go purchase towels and wash clothes, hot water ran out after 5-7 mins, elevator broken had to walk up 3 flights of stairs

The room was perfect and plenty of space. A lot of people on here said the thermostat did not work and they were freezing. It does work you just have to know what your doing. The bed was very comfortable. We did not eat the breakfast. The TV in our room did not work it looked like one of the cords behind the tv had been cut. So my boys were upset about that.

Exceptional

The location The elevator did not work and the stairs smelled terrible. There was someone sitting on the stairs and that made me feel uncomfortable.

Nothing except the front desk staff was nice Manager never available for conversation, no pool, hard to get towels or room cleaned. The list goes on

Location and devoted staff. Nothing.

The size of the room/suite Elevator has been out for weeks. Understaffed hotel. Room was not clean. No linens for bed. Had to go to the front desk to be handed a blanket and sheets in a pile. Curtains were off of the tracks. Bathroom faucet leaks onto countertop. 1 garbage can in a room that can sleep 7 and the can didn't have a garbage bag in it. Previous renter's hair left on bathroom floor. Half empty water bottle left in the closet. At breakfast, 1 worker, doing the best he could, busting his butt to help alot of guests and also having to cover the front desk.

Right across the street from Kings Dominion. Room was huge. Bathroom large. Beds very comfortable. Some of the outlets looked pried apart, one light didn't work. Not your fault. If you aren't told, how would you know. I forgot to mention on way out. Was quite busy. Breakfast was great. Staff was great!

There was more problem in the bathroom. The soap conditioner and shampoo containers. Only one of them had a dispensary pump, a toilet paper roll was broken.There was no soap to wash your hands if you went to the bathroom. I complained and asked for refund , but nothing.

Location. One of he front desk clerks was awesome. He went beyond his duties to make things right for us. It was understaffed. The room did not start out the cleanest and housekeeping never came to clean or put fresh towels into the bathroom at any time of our 3 night stay. Why have a sticker on the bathroom mirror regarding towels when they don’t even bother to check to begin with. We had to keep getting our keycard reactivated every time we left the hotel. Was unable to watch tv at all our first night there due to remote issues. Overall rating for this hotel is a 3 out of 10.

Nothing There was no a/c in room

Room was comfortable. Staff were friendly. Price was reasonable. Elevator broken. Ice machine only on 3rd floor, had to walk up stairs, dead roach in hallway on third floor. Toilet paper holder broken in room, all soap dispensers broken. No maintenance man to fix all issues noted. Breakfast was mediocre.

Close to kings dominion and clean

Staff were good folks The entire place was very dirty. The rugs were heavily stained, not vacuumed, dirty atmosphere overall. Elevator was not working at all without any repairs in progress. I stepped on a roach in the main lobby close to breakfast area.

Pleasant

Staff were excellent. Overall good stay for being close to kings dominion. The picture online was misleading since it showed a hot tub. Hotel has neither a pool or hot tub. You have to check amenities tab for clarification. No remote and broken cable for the particular room i had. Hotel does need some work.
