The Durham Hotel

One of the best hotels I have ever been to.. period world wide. Nice rooms, modern era decor, great in house restaurant with superb breakfast at reasonable price and coffee bar. Best cortado I ever had. All staff were friendly and super supportive. Parking in lots street or garage within easy walking distance. Many restaurants and bars in the area. Reasonably safe area but there are panhandlers on occasion. Room had adequate closet space, excellent bathroom and shower. Quiet at night. Super comfy bed. I’m a coffee nerd and they offer fresh ground gourmet options brought to your door each morning if you choose the night before. No hotel I’ve ever stayed at offered this. I liked it so much I returned on a return visit to the city. No pool but workout facility. Highly recommended if you travel in the area.,

Durham is not my idea of a sought after destination but i was pleasantly surprised on a recent business trip. This Hotel is really wonderful on several levels. Firstly it’s location in downtown. Durham is fabulous and close to restaurants, coffee places, etc. all within walking distance. The front desk staff in the lobby are extremely helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable. The rooms are done with modern decor, and there is a slight art deco influence. There is ample parking at lots and garages, including city street parking right next to or adjacent to the hotel. In addition, the restaurant in the hotel itself in the lobby has excellent food at reasonable prices and a fabulous breakfast with complementary coffee for hotel guests. There were a couple of irregularities in the room, which I discussed with the front desk, which were minor. Overall, this is a four star Hotel and very reasonable priced . I highly recommend it and I would return gladly if my travels take me again to Durham NC . One word of caution having nothing to do with the hotel itself. That location downtown one must be somewhat careful and attentive . While not what I would perceive as unsafe, there are occasional homeless people who will ask for change as you’re walking along the sidewalks in the area, but not unlike many major cities in the US.

Great staff! Especially Tyler! Restaurant food and prices were very good! Thanks also for the lobby coffee! Storage space could be a lot better. More towels,, please. Fix shower door so that it doesn't leak water all over the bathroom. Decor was weird - not really modern, looked cheap.

Great old hotel. Had a minor plumbing problem, but it was fixed within a couple of hours. Staff were all great.

Lobby/restaurant had carpet throughout, seems old & dirty. Did not like the heavy denim quilt on bed.

The hotel is in a great location. The staff is very helpful and friendly. We were able to enjoy a drink at the rooftop bar and that was very nice. My only complain is with regard to the noise level on Chapel Hill Street until 2am. While it is out of the hotel's control, they should consider providing earplugs and noise machines to guests whose rooms are facing the street. We have stayed in similarly situated rooms at other hotels and those were appreciated amenities. We will certainly consider staying there again but plan better next time.

The hotel was nice, the check in was OK. It was unclear that in order to get coffee or tea you had to preorder it the night before and hang a tag on your door. When we checked in we were told coffee was in the lobby (which there was but nothing else). ALso to get ice you have to call the desk and have them bring it to you. Parking was expensive ($25/day) in a municipal lot. The best part was the rooftop bar and our bartender Sam was excellent! highly recommend!

The hotel is well-situated, walking distance to many amenities. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and provided all essential needs.

A fine location The elevator broke down, and it took over two days to fix it. Since it was the only customer elevator and there wasn’t much urgency to repair it, this incident revealed a lot about the management culture.

We were super grateful to be able to check in early to get ready for our daughter’s white coat ceremony. Beyond that, everyone was very nice and professional as well. We will be back!

Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was comfortable. A few things were falling apart: sink drain, bedside lamp knob. Overall had a great stay.

Hotel was clean but out dated. Denim comforter, old gold curtains, blue carpeting. Not what I expected for the price. Coffee want great. Didn’t get the VIP treatment that was promised or the 2 complimentary cocktails. Was disappointed sadly.

Great hotel conveniently located in the heart of downtown within walking distance of many sites. Well maintained older property with spacious room & bathroom, and excellent amenities such as daily fresh ground coffee, slippers, etc. Would stay here again
