got the last room in the property, well run family location and one of the few safe and quaint places to stay in Eureka

We enjoyed our stay very much. Our room included 2 glasses of wine, The bartender made some great Mocktails for us as we do not drink alcohol, which was much appreciated. The staff were very friendly and gave good suggestions for dinner within walking distance, The location is not in the heart of the city but by the marina. There were a few homeless people in the area. The Breakfast Buffet was very good and we had a choice of extra hot dishes made to order. Very nice.

My husband and I always enjoy staying at the Carter House. The staff and the food is AMAZING!

Hotel is close enough to walk to the waterfront. The Hotel has a restaurant that may be overpriced, but it's nice. A nice breakfast was included with the room. Victorian style with rooms and access being time period but up-kept.

The Carter House Inn is a replica of an historic Victorian building and has a quaint, cozy, welcoming feel. We enjoyed a free glass of wine with a delicious dinner (Carter House Inn salad of frisee, pear, kale, spiced pecans), mushroom tart with goat cheese, and poached sockeye salmon, grilled asparagus and delicious lemony hollandaise sauce. The Bandol rosé was a perfect painting. Breakfast was memorable, with a spread of seasonal fruit, healthy grain breads, Greek yoghurt, pastries and overnight oats. I also loved the gingered carrot juice shot! The Inn has received numerous awards by the Wine Spectator and seems to be living up to its reputation! The room was clean, cozy and comfortable. They also have a huge wine cellar. Next time, we’ll explore this option! Highly recommend.

The General Manager, Troy, is one of the hardest working Hospitality Managers I have ever came across. During our stay, I saw him there morning, noon, and night. The owners are lucky to have a General Manager setting such a great example to all of their staff. We enjoyed the breakfast that was included with the stay, and enjoyed the complimentary drinks in the Inn’s bar. Nice conversations with other guests at the bar! Very close to the Carson Mansion and other amenities that come with the Old Town area. Some really great restaurants in walking distance of the Inn. Will definitely be back!

Great customer service!

The only thing that I would have liked was to have screens on the windows which would have allowed us to leave the windows open at night to cool down the room. There is no A/C but we were provided fans, which was a life saver. But we really were still too hot overnight. We don't like to open windows without screens as bugs/mosquitoes could get in. A/C would be nice too, but I know that that is very expensive to add. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would return in the future.

Well maintained property even with the old style.

We loved everything about this hotel. We have stayed here before and hopefully will be able to return again. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. Staff was very helpful and the restaurant was a good as any we have been to in California. Highly recommend it.

Lovely Victorian style hotel with very modern conveniences, a lovely bar and fabulous restaurant.

This hotel was like a step into the past. Excellent service and helpful staff. Cute and clean rooms, nice towels and amenities. Would be great for a couples getaway! Dining and front desk staff were attentive and helpful!

Our suite was elegant and spacious. The staff were wonderful. Loved our stay. The breakfast had many good choices.

1. Old multiple layers of paint on the doors that were worn / significantly chipped 2. Holes from old rob hook not patched nor painted. 3. Strong urine smell in lobby bathroom first thing in the morning 4. Old jetted tubs that need to be replaced- no one uses those they are bacterial incubators & give nasty vibes 5. All door knobs tarnished & loose Our room was apparently right above the bar which was extremely loud until midnight despite the bar closing at 10. Person who greeted us was extremely nice chipper & helpful. Breakfast was good, coffee was great. I just feel like there is so much potential going out the window. Someone needs to go room by room to identify ways to dial it in a bit. The grunge factor i felt this stay may have me considering an alternative place next time im in eureka….

The Carter House was an amazing experience. The staff were helpful and friendly and the food was wonderful.

The check in/check out process was seamless and the amenities were abundant, and we couldn’t have asked for a more warm, friendly, and personable touch like the treatment we received from Troy and the entire Carter House team. I will definitely be staying there on a return visit in the future.

Super stay. Very helpful staff, beautiful and clean property and rooms. Will be the only place we stay when we visit this area. Very good breakfast too!

The location was perfect. You are in a quite part of the downtown area. This hotel was advertised as "pet friendly" even upon check-in we were told all these positives about being pet friendly. But then we are out to dinner on a Saturday night during a holiday weekend getting told the dog is being a nuisance to other guests. We come back to check and yes was she whining sure, but is it a packed hotel on a holiday weekend, also yes. If I had complained about every sound, stomp from above us, conversation we could here I would have been a miserable person. I would be weary of anyone staying there thinking its accommodating to anyone traveling with animals.

For the cost, the experience could have been better. For instance, we expected hot water. Taking a shower was a shock.

Nice older home remodeled. Good breakfast. A few homeless noisy folks nearby. No refrigerator or microwave in room we booked.
