The Mansion is an incredible experience and historically significant property, having survived the 1900 hurricane in Galveston. The property has been lovingly preserved and the staff were exceptional. On arrival we were met by Aaron who took great care and time to ensure we had a wonderful stay. The Kona Hawaiian coffee is sublime and breakfast was a great conclusion to our stay. Highly recommended.

The house is old, so of course they’re gonna be some quirks. But it was comfortable, clean and functional. Not to mention, romantic and spooky all at the same time! We would definitely stay there again. Thank you!

Although I haven't been to The Mansion YET (but will be staying there with my family going forward every year when we take our annual cruise), my daughter and her fiancé have. Their stay at The Mansion was a pre-sail day gift to them as a part of their combined birthday present cruise, because I wanted them to be able to head down to Galveston a day ahead and just be able to relax without the stress of making it to their early afternoon boarding time. When they arrived at the property and made it up to their room, I got a text from my daughter, "MOM! OMG! This place is frigging awesome! It's like a night inside a storybook! Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Keep in mind that both she and her fiancé are what society refers to as "bougie", and fortunately, they've both been exposed to all the finest things in life, especially as regards hotels. It's 4 or 5 stars or NOTHING for them, so, their bar is set extremely high! The next morning, she called me to say that THIS is the place we need to stay every year when we take our family cruise, and how easy it was for them to just leave their car there, and be driven directly to the cruise terminal. She also said that the food at The Mansion was amazing, which again, is saying alot, since she's somewhat of a "foodie"! Good job, The Mansion! Looks like you have loyal guests for life!

This was an amazing stay! The guy who received us upon arrival was super charming and warm! He told us some of the history of the building and the expectations for our stay! Sadly we missed out on breakfast at our choice but it was to be honest to order and wonderful! 😭

Breakfast was very good. Social hour was a nice touch. Apparently they were in the middle of switching Internet providers so no TV, which was not the end of the world, but would’ve been nice to watch news. Disappointing amenities, i.e. water and coffee were available but no cups staff not available at night and did not return calls. The house itself had a lot of cool features and overall a beautiful property.

Our accommodation was not as expected, we booked a room listed as a deluxe double through Hotels.com. It ended up being a queen bed which is perfectly okay, but the room is tiny so getting around the bed to the restroom is a real challenge. The bathroom is a good size and updated. The bathroom itself was very clean but the room could use a good deep cleaning. Water pressure is not fantastic but it's an old mansion so that was expected. Plenty of hot water. The bed frame comes together in the middle and was bending and seperating, Aaron was able to rig something under it thankfully so we felt safe that we wouldn't fall in while sleeping. The bedding was soft. Oddly the chair in your room covered with a sheet and after a while we figured out why I think the air conditioning unit had been leaking on it and it had a little bit of musty smell to it and it was wet. The in room ac worked pretty good, it was very hot and humid that day. The mansion was surprisingly quiet through the night. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was top notch. They also allowed for us to drop off our luggage early while we went out for the day. Check in was simple. We would possibly stay again but would try to make sure we got one of the larger rooms.

    No a/c…even portable unit didn’t work…

This is a wonderful place to stay. The staff were great, wonderful breakfast, clean rooms. Will definitely stay here again!

Breakfast was great, especially good coffee and bacon! The clawfoot tub shower was a bit challenging but ok.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

It is very nice they also offer a complimentary cocktail hour but the second night they ran out of bourbon and did not replace it on the third night. Another special amenity they offer is golf carts to tour the surrounding area but apparently the charging system had crashed and the carts were not available.

Convenient and relaxing before taking cruise

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

The room was spacious. Bathtub/shower wasn't so comfortable but we stayed just 1 night before the cruise so it wasn’t so bad.

  • Engine customer Jul 2026

Second but not last time staying here! It’s charm and uniqueness gets us every time and sets the tone perfectly getting ready for the cruise. Don’t come here if you want all the new fancy frills and high tech, it’s a very old mansion! But if you like character and different experiences definitely come here!

Try to book Room 1- it’s gorgeous and unique. The breakfast was delicious- complete with French press coffee. Jenny was a fantastic hostess. Great location- close to shopping and port.

Owner greeted me by name as I walked into the hotel. Beautifully maintained!! And the breakfast was first class! My only concern is that I was not able to leave a tip with my credit card… excellent accommodations, service and food! Will highly recommend it!

Service was great. Breakfast, extraordinary. This may not be the place for you if you need an elevator, or a stall shower. We had a tub/shower that some may find challenging to negotiate. Location is quiet, but only a short walk to downtown.

Breakfast and social hour was great experiences. We met so many fun couples during our stay. Room was fantastic with a comfortable bed. We stayed in the only room on first floor. Only down side was creaking stairs outside room when other guests were coming down for breakfast.

What a wonderful place to stay! The rooms were very clean and the place was gorgeous. Everyone who worked there was wonderful and very helpful! I would 100% stay again.

The only downside was that our room was on one of the upper floors, and there was no elevator. Carrying luggage up several flights of stairs was quite difficult. Other than that, we enjoyed our stay.
