Holiday Inn Grand Rapids - South by IHG

The hot tub floor seems to have started crumbling or there is a lot of dirt in it.

An old hotel with a makeover. Nasty carpet in the room. AC thermostat didn’t work and the unit was noisy.

The room was nice staff was understanding. To the kids

Nice size room, bed was comfy, pool & hot tub nice, only downfall was breakfast, not only do you have to pay for what other hotels give you complimentary, it wasn't stocked, maybe 6 people in the dining area & there was hardly any food, all the hit items were about empty, we ended up going out to eat.

I stay at this property often but this past weekend was horrible .

Right off the highway but still peaceful and quiet…

Overall we had a great stay. Just a mini getaway with the kids. The room was bigger than I anticipated!

I loved that there pool area has something for kids to do, my younger daughter is scared of deep pools/water so it was perfect for her to play in. They had a fun time. The pools could have been little cleaner, (more on the kids side of the floor area) and when we first went down there the water wasn't on we figured it was broken until that evening we were outside on the side walk and noticed they were on. So I asked and they just forgot to turn the water on earlier, so anytime we went into the pool we made sure it was on so the kids could have a fun time because thats one thing I look for on our trips are pools.

I liked that the front desk brought me three bandaids for my cut fingers! I didn’t like that the sink in my room wood not drain and the stopper for the sink was not attached. I didn’t like that the drain plug in the bathtub was also not working so the tub filled while I showered. I didn’t like that I cut 3 of my fingers on the bathtub draining trying to get it to stay up. I didn’t like that the air handling unit fan did not work so there was no air circulation in the room. The bed was also too soft for me.

Room had a slight “Smokey” smell to it. The staff was absolutely amazing and so very helpful. The breakfast had quite a few hot options but not many cold options or child friendly. The pool area is why we come BUT it needed to be cleaned! I picked up and threw away a couple bandaids and there was quite a bit of hair all over on the edges of pools….its a shame that the people who the bandaids came off of don’t take care of them or also the hair….but staff should clean up that stuff as well as they see it. The pool water I felt needs to be slightly warmer cuz wow it was pretty cold and took a bit to get used to. So many ppl were sitting in hot tub for that reason. I don’t let my younger kids sit in hot tub- only dip their feet.

Waterpark

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Family friendly environment. Our room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast was fresh with a nice selection, great coffee. The kids didnt want to leave.
