The Hollywood Franklin Hotel near Universal Studios

We could walk to a few places, not recommended if you have leg issues. It's right off the freeway, so that was easy on and off. The parking some might not like, because you have to pay and then it's valet. Everytime you leave you have to ask for your car. That was a bit of much, yet the guy was always with a happy face. If you did not want to go eat anywhere there is a nice place to eat right next door. You think it belongs to hotel, its not. When i first arrived the lady at the counter was a bit rude. I just made sure i did not have to go there during the stay, so my stay would not be a bad day. There is not that much parking on street. That is why valet is there.

It was clean. No kettle for cups of tea and extremely loud street noise.

Very cool looking. Well located for Universal and Griffith park. Not the friendliest staff member on check in. Pool small and not heated. Beds are doubles so pretty small. Louvres on shutters a bit fiddly - one kept springing open - slightly annoying when its ground level facing a courtyard. Fridge didn't work in room so all drinks were warm.

I loved the location, the quirkiness of old Hollywood stars’ photos everywhere, the on-site bar & restaurant were both amazing . The room was quiet, the bed was comfortable. Our room was Star Wars inspired with a direct view to the Hollywood sign! All good!

Liked the thematic touches, remote in a bag tells me they value cleanliness, right next to the pool, great ambience at the pool. Paying for valet when there was plenty of parking, no body wash left in the dispenser in the shower.

The unique decor with film stars Our air conditioning did not work properly and the bedrooms were a bit small

The room smelled really, really bad - old, stale, musty smell, the a/c didn’t work great either. It’s an older hotel so things are getting kind of run down, but the Hollywood theme is cute. The rest of the staff were really unhelpful, borderline rude. I was trying to ask the front desk about places to eat in the area and after I stood there for several minutes the clerk interupted his personal conversation to say “ you want something” and then told me I should just check uber eats if I was hungry. When I checked out the guy said “give me the keys” - that was the entire conversation The rates weren’t that cheap either, for not much more I could have stayed at a nice new hotel but I wanted a boutique hotel experience so I decided to stay here - I won’t do that again.

Our stay at the Hollywood Franklin hotel was wonderful. Our room and bathroom were spacious, clean and comfortable. We were given our room earlier than check-in time, which was helpful. When we checked out, we were able to leave our bags to go visit a bit more of LA before we left at 12pm. The staff was friendly and helpful; the location of the hotel is great—less than 10 min from a metro station, and within walking distance from Hollywood landmarks. We looked forward to coming back to our room after a full day out.

The hotel is clean, classy and one-of-a-kind. The location is amazing and the staff was very helpful. The diner is super convenient and amazingly over-priced for typical breakfast fare. It was very hot and the A/C worked well. They could invest in some new mattresses. Valet was great and reasonably-priced. Would definitely stay again!!!
