Columbia Gorge Hotel and Spa

Not a fan of the whole chat bot experience for hotel info. You have to scan a QR code at the front desk. No helpful information in the room. No directory on the phone. We wanted to order in room dining, but could find no way to call to do that. Tried dialing 0 to get the front desk, but after several unanswered rings, I just got a message that the “mailbox was full” then it went to the generic welcome message and a prompt to dial “0” for information, which just started the whole sequence over again. So back downstairs to scan the code, which got me to the chat bot. Finally found the in-room dining section to order dinner. Ordered the hamburger with several options, plus the form offered a comments section. In the comments area I specified “medium well, no bun, no onion, no pickle, add avocado. When the meal came, the comments were completely ignored. With no other recourse, we removed the bun, the onion and the pickle. Never did get the avocado. As a side note, part of the info in the app was 2nd and 3rd floor fire escape routes. The preview images had the room numbers correct, but if you open the image to full size, the room numbers are completely wrong. Could be pretty confusing for someone trying to plan ahead for emergency and not being able to even find their room numbers are completely on the chart. Overall, I would expect a much more personal customer service experience for the price and supposed prestige of this hotel.

This is a gorgeous historic property. Wondering why they are using the cheap ultra white light bulbs in the interior light fixtures - just kills the vibe.

Amazing view of river

The location and gardens are amazing. The hotel is old. No coffee maker in the room, TV does not have many channels available. Elevator can only be used with a staff member, of which there are only a few.

I enjoyed my one-night stay with my girlfriend at this iconic historic hotel. It was nice to feel like we were living back in the early 1900's. The staff was friendly and the room was nice for being so old. It has A/C but does not have a bathroom fan so it gets foggy and humid in the room. There was plenty of parking. The hotel is literally next to a waterfall so that makes for the most ideal scenery and setting for a couple's night.

Hotel is lovely, the rooms are a bit dated but very comfortable bed. We ate at the Hotel Bar which had a great menu. Our bill was about $257 before tip. In hindsight should not have tipped 20%. The bartender did not fill the shot glass when making the drinks. We ordered 3 Manhattans at $33 each glasses not full. The cosmo was filled to the normal lip of the glass though. Our bottle of Mt Hood Chardonnay was less than the 3 Manhattans.

The staff seemed to be very unhappy, all of them. The service in the dining room was slow and the food mediocre. We stayed two nights and no one came to refresh our room. The grounds were beautiful which was the one really nice thing.

Great hotel. Unbelievable views. The restaurant was excellent. Alp was very helpful and Brenda was a great waitress. If you are in this part of the country stay in this hotel!

Very good; wish it was included in the room

It is a lovely vinttage hotel as I hoped. The scenery and the grounds are lovely. The staff are exceptional. I very much enjoyed the furnishings and history. There might have been a wait for new coffee in the morning but pretty certain that was an isolated case. And I might have needed coffee that morning more than most.

Loved the night staff, day staff not so much.

The rooms were clean and the staff is super friendly. We didn’t eat there but we did sit outside and had a couple cocktails. It’s so pretty outside and well maintained. Beautiful geoundsy

The room was comfortable and relaxing. The bar and restaurant are quiet and unique

The location was beautiful and the staff were very nice, friendly, and very helpful. Room size was appropriate. Bathroom had plenty of storage area. Front doors did not lock at night. We had someone we didn't know bang on our door at night and were not sure if it was a guest or not. We were in a room next to the elevator and stairs and heard the noise all night. Couldn't sleep. Carpet in rooms we find uncomfortable in any hotel.

It was a bit loud on the highway/garden side of the building. I am not certain what could be done to correct that, but perhaps a small white noise machine would help.

Beautiful property! Grounds were stunning. Loved the old fashioned elegant feel of the hotel. Beautiful room, clean and comfortable. The toiletries they provided in the bathroom were wonderful. Smelled so good! No complimentary breakfast. Website said complimentary coffee in the morning but when we came down, we were told it had already been put away so they had to call someone to bring us some coffee which they did. But if we had been told at check in that coffee service ended at a certain time, we would have come down sooner.
