That said, we felt the property itself could really use some TLC. The first room we were given was definitely not up to the standard we would expect for the price. It was tiny, cramped, and had no furniture for storage of our belongings. There was a desk and one large chair, which we ended up using just to hold our things. We asked if another room was available, and fortunately they were able to move us to a larger room. That room was much more comfortable and spacious, although it still desperately needed a makeover, furniture, and some updating. Without naming names, we also only had breakfast at the hotel once. Our waitress seemed irritated from the get-go, and a smile certainly wouldn’t have hurt. She took our order while already walking away from the table, and the whole interaction felt rushed and dismissive. I would have completely understood if the restaurant had been busy, but it wasn’t. The experience was enough to make us choose to go into town for breakfast for the rest of our stay. The sad part is that this hotel has so much potential. The history, the views, and the bones of the property could make it an absolute gem. It’s just disappointing to see that it has been allowed to become so run-down.

Very impressed with the hotel, location and grounds. Room was very nice, comfortable bed and good space. We had breakfast overlooking the river at the restaurant, very nice stay.

They are pet friendly, which is surprising. Note: the elevator is "historic" and requires operation by staff, and they are very responsive!

Grand old hotel in a beautiful setting! We loved walking the grounds and enjoying drinks on the terrace. There were activities such as cornhole, horseshoes, and a graceful swing available on the spacious, manicured grounds. Staff was friendly, pleasant, and attentive to our needs. Our room had been updated from its original fixtures, but still maintained a gracious, old-world vibe. In-room coffee would have been a welcome addition, but there was coffee and biscotti downstairs in the morning

Ww had a corner room with a good sized bathroom and separate walk-in area for luggage storage. Two armchairs and a side table were good for relaxing and planning the next day's excursions. With the freeway running behind the hotel the rooms over the carpark were quite noisy. And for some reason, we couldn't get the TV to work.

Beautiful grounds, comfortable bed, great location, complimentary apples at check-in. The elevator was out of service during our stay, but we were advised ahead of time and staff was available to carry luggage up stairs, if needed.

Beautiful grounds. Great food eaten on a beautiful terrace. Loved the look of the building and the interior rooms. Beds were SO comfortable. Female bartender/server was amazing as were front desk employees. Very clean. Memorable for both me and my cousin. Cannot think of anything that should be improved.

This was a wonderful find for us. The views are amazing as well as the grounds. The price was very reasonable.

The grounds were beautiful and the views were amazing! We loved the look and feel of the hotel. The bed was not comfortable and you could hear the traffic. There is a window unit in the window which prevented us from closing the shades all of the way.

Not a fan of the whole chat bot experience for hotel info. You have to scan a QR code at the front desk. No helpful information in the room. No directory on the phone. We wanted to order in room dining, but could find no way to call to do that. Tried dialing 0 to get the front desk, but after several unanswered rings, I just got a message that the “mailbox was full” then it went to the generic welcome message and a prompt to dial “0” for information, which just started the whole sequence over again. So back downstairs to scan the code, which got me to the chat bot. Finally found the in-room dining section to order dinner. Ordered the hamburger with several options, plus the form offered a comments section. In the comments area I specified “medium well, no bun, no onion, no pickle, add avocado. When the meal came, the comments were completely ignored. With no other recourse, we removed the bun, the onion and the pickle. Never did get the avocado. As a side note, part of the info in the app was 2nd and 3rd floor fire escape routes. The preview images had the room numbers correct, but if you open the image to full size, the room numbers are completely wrong. Could be pretty confusing for someone trying to plan ahead for emergency and not being able to even find their room numbers are completely on the chart. Overall, I would expect a much more personal customer service experience for the price and supposed prestige of this hotel.

The view Spa was closed on a Wednesday, we don’t recall it was clearly mentioned when doing the booking.
