It had weeds going out of the parking lot, leaves all over the porch furniture dirty cushions all over the place Very dirty, they were closed, doors were locked. The grounds keeper came around the corner and asked why we were there and said all the reservation should have been canceled.

Nothing. It was closed without notice even though I had reservation. I didn’t like that they were closed without notifying me. I was in town for work and was left with no place to stay.

I put alot of planning into my 2 weeks along the Oregon Coast. Being well rested and getting an early start to my day were priorities. Putting us out day before learning there is no breakfast was disappointing. I booked based on the b& b idea. The room was not comfortable, no seating except a bench that was placed under tv..not facing tv. I was looking forward to the bed and breakfast feel.. this failed in all levels. I was never greeted upon arival or anytime since I arrived. I tried co tacti g owner night i arrived and next morning..no response.. There are beatiful places to stay in Hood River..look for them!

They advertise as Hood River’s Number one bed and breakfast on another travel site. This is NOT a bed and breakfast. Currently, just a historic home with rooms for rent. Had a printout in our room after self check in, that due to staffing shortages, breakfast no longer included. You could pay for breakfast, but you had to let them know ahead of time. We got a very modest partial refund as we had booked what we thought was a bed & breakfast. In sum, we paid $300 for one night for a room with a very dated en-suite bathroom. No coffee in the dining room in the morning, no staff, nothing you’d expect for a bed & breakfast. DO NOT recommend

Great communication and cute house. Pretty clean, but not perfect. It was more like a hostel than hotel. It was fine, but not overly impressive. I bit of a steep walk to downtown. Overall, it was fine.
-
Comfy room Self check in unclear instructions. Staff did not greet us the next morning while we sat around wondering if we were getting breakfast.

The property was advertised as having a great, individually cooked breakfast. The day before we arrived we were told it wasn’t going to be that. At the inn there was a note saying the breakfast would be ‘House made pastries and yogurt’. In fact it was grocery store donuts and Danish’. I also called because there was a wildfire nearby, and they never returned my call. The porch was poorly maintain.

The place advertised marvelous hot breakfast. When we got there asked what time breakfast was served and was told ‘the owner discontinued it several months ago due to cost. All we have is a plate of cookies at 7:30, but there are breakfast places 2 mins away.’ I’m a runner and can tell you those places were 20 mins walk away down a steep hill and another 20 plus back, a 2 hour waste of our trip. Was also told they’d have coffee at 7:30. Went down and at 740 called only to find out ‘730 is when the coffee person walks in the door…not when the coffee was ready. Disgusted we got in the car and drove to a place in town. I told Michael this place is using false advertising. He was nice and gave me one of our 3 nights at half off. The thing is I’d rather have had the hot breakfast, as advertised. Provide the breakfast as advertised …and the steep hill so far from the Main Street.

This is a beautiful home with lovely gardens and rooms. We enjoyed our stay. It was an drive to the business district, breweries and down to the river. The Secret Room was spacious, the bed was comfortable and the attached bathroom had plenty of counter space. There is a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker in the room. The common room and porch are very pleasant, and the owners provided access to plenty of guide books for hikes, flower identification, kids activities, games, and lots of printed information to help enjoy the area. They had just transitioned away from serving a full breakfast when we stayed. Instead, they provided slices of cake and fruit for breakfast. (The addition of plain or lightly sweetened yogurts with nuts for protein might have been nice). While this was a surprise to us, there were benefits to not feeling like we needed to wait around for the breakfast that used to be served at 8 am. We enjoyed an earlier breakfast at one of their recommended places (Bette's- open at 5:30), which allowed us more time to explore our favorite hike of the trip -- the Memaloose hills wildflowers -- before the trail started to get crowded.

Do not waste your money. The photos on the website have to be at least 10 years old if not older. The property is very worn and dated. The bathroom sink in the Secret Room has a ring of mold or mildew around the faucet. Nothing looks like it does on the website photos. Nothing cute and charming about the house. It’s more reminiscent of an old haunted house. And 20 mins before our arrival, we received a text stating they are in between seasons and not serving breakfast and the hot tub is out of service. I never saw a single staff person. Just a waste! Not worth the price they are charging. Avoid!
