The Westin Chicago Northwest

Great Suburb Location, but needs an update. The Good: Beautiful grounds and convenient access to the interstate. The Westin Northwest Chicago features a lovely lake setting in Itasca. The location offers excellent access to major highways. Appro 25 mins from downtown Chicago. It is highly convenient for business in the northwest suburbs. Parking is easy and the lobby looks grand. The staff is professional, welcoming, and very attentive. The Bad: Tired and dated guests rooms. The guest rooms heavily show their age. The decor feels stuck in a past decade. Carpets and furniture show clear signs of wear. Elevators are slow. The bathrooms lack the crisp, modern feel expected of the brand. The Verdict: This hotel is perfect for conferences and quick business trips. The peaceful suburban setting remains a major highlight. However, a room renovation is sorely needed to match modern standards. I do love the running trail around the lake.

The rooms were so nice and spacious, and was very clean. The property was well kept as well as the staff are so nice. But the A.C unit was NOT working in our first room, and when we switched at 4am to a different room the A.C was better but still was nothing close to the temperature it should be to sleep comfortably.

Due to Holiday, very confusing to get to the hotel. Roads blocked, poor directions to get to hotel. Then after we get to lobby we find we had wait for our room to be ready Lobby staff was wonderful in moving this along. We were on the 12th floor. We get out of elevator and hit with a hot humid air. Room a/c was functional poorly. Bathroom toilet seat was so loose. Waiting for the elevators was at least 5 min or more. Out of the four elevators, two were working. We came for the fireworks, which was wonderful. Walking back to the Westin, got lost!! Had to walk thru the back way thru mud!!!Why they couldn’t have signs directing us back!! Several others were complaining about this. Been there before for the 4th holiday and can’t believe the change in the place. Such a shame. Bedding needed to be improved very old blanket.

The property is located in a quiet area. We were on the top floor of the hotel. It was very hot and stuffy almost like they didn’t have the air conditioning on. In the room, the AC didn’t work. They offered to have engineering look at the AC, but since it was almost midnight I asked and they moved us to another room. The AC in this room didn’t work properly either, so it was a very uncomfortable night.

Everything was good except when we first were checking in it’s kind of confusing and no one welcomed you. And it was confusing because they had like two or more weddings going on so just a lot. It would’ve been a better process if the people were more friendly and helpful otherwise though it’s a nice hotel. The bed was definitely old and kind of dipping in usually westins have really comfortable beds, which is why we chose to stay there.

Good deal for short drive into the city

Beds. Housekeeping was great We were on the top floor and it was very warm. Almost humid. Also there were several weddings and the noise was very loud all night into the early morning. In addition, for a hotel outside the city it was extremely expensive.

Staff is friendly. The rooms were clean with comfortable beds.

The social spaces were nice and pool is very nice but it’s in a health club that seems to be separate from the hotel. You sign a waiver everyday, to use it and amenities like towels, are not allowed out of the space which means dripping, cold kids walking through an enormous hotel and on the elevators. The health club staff were not particularly accomodating. We would stay again. All of our issues were relatively small.
