The location was extremely convenient. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. There was no view of the ocean from the room, and the TV was very small.

We recently flew to Laguna Beach from Boise, Idaho to attend the Pageant of the Masters. We were only coming in for a few days, and wanted a smaller place, where we could walk into town and not hassle with a car. I lived in the OC for over 30 years and knew about all the big hotels but wanted something smaller. I stumbled across this lovely little gem while researching places to stay. The room was very clean and comfortable. Unlike a big hotel, the towels were lovely and plush; there wasn't any crazy A/C noise that you get in big hotels and you could also feel fresh air from the screens on the windows. They were very welcoming when we arrived and even left a lovely "thank you" note in our room. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend staying here.

Cons: I wish they had more hangers for towels in the bathroom. The bathtub in our room (yellow with two queen beds) was very rusty and outdated.

Clean room, kitchen and caring owners.

The pool and surrounding area were very clean, well maintained, and inviting. The location was also fantastic—just steps away from shops and restaurants, and only about a 10-minute walk to the beach. Overall, the location was ideal, and we had a lovely experience. I would definitely recommend this property!

I truly liked the cottage atmosphere and coziness of the overall property. The room was well appointed with the addition of a kitchenette that was well stocked for two people. The location was ideal for walking and exploring the area. Parking could be a bit challenging in terms of guest parking but manageable.

very quaint hotel, five minute walk to beach or cafés.

Pool area was really nice to hang out after a long day of walking around. Staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were cute and decorated with a personal touch. The kitchenette was perfect. Location can’t be beat. No problems parking. We would stay again.

Location is great, staff extremely helpful and room clean and comfortable. Pool and beach supplies available. I am glad we selected this hotel.

Unfortunately, the guest rooms look as though they haven’t been updated since the 1970s. They have added the newer large soap dispensers instead of the small individual bottles, which is at least one step toward modernization. For a hotel charging around $500 a night, the rooms really need some attention. They could renovate one room at a time during the off-season—update the bathrooms, add fresh paint, and replace or refresh the furniture. With those relatively straightforward improvements, this could be a great hotel experience, especially because the location is already excellent.

Great staff. Great location.

Great location on Laguna Beach. Close to restaurants, the art festivals and the Pageant. grounds. the property is very quaint, pretty, and well maintained. The room, including the beds, as clean and comfortable.
-
We only stayed for one night, the staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, even though the motel has been there for years it was very well kept up. Has a very cozy feeling.
-
Nice staff. Also, Free parking, and no resort or surprise fees!
-
Nice place to stay. Front office staff is great.
-
One thing to note is that we had a larger vehicle (Honda Pilot) with an overhead skybox and it was too tall to fit in any of the covered parking stalls or to drive from the main parking area to the back. Instead, we had to drive just past the property and park in the back from there. It was fine once we figured that out.

The property is in a fairly good location for attending the Pageant. The Pageant is walkable but there is also a trolley nearby. I like that there was a kitchenette in the room. The staff were accommodating when we had an issue with the coffee maker. It was quickly resolved. We had a nice stay.
-
The Tides is in a beautiful location and the staff was incredibly accommodating given our late check-in! We are so glad to have found it!
-
This property is older and not fancy, but clean, well-maintained, and with a friendly and accommodating staff. Most significantly, it is in a GREAT location. We were within walking distance to downtown restaurants, the Sawdust Festival and the Pageant of the Masters...everything we wanted! This was our second stay...see you next year.
