Very good property saved me from a bad experience

We stayed at Freehand for a few days and overall really enjoyed the hotel. The location is excellent with plenty of restaurants, grocery stores and shops within walking distanceas well as easy access to the metro and buses. The hotel itself is beautifully designed and our room was stylish, well laid out, very clean and comfortable. The staff were also really friendly, helpful and responsive throughout our stay. The rooftop was definitely one of the highlights! We went up for drinks and absolutely loved the atmosphere. It’s a really nice place to relax and enjoy the hotel. The biggest downside was definitely the soundproofing. The hotel is located opposite a couple of bars/clubs so there can be a lot of noise at night. At times, it genuinely sounded like our window was open and we were right out on the street. The walls between the rooms are also quite thin. On our first night, there was a couple arguing and banging around in the room next to us and we could hear everything. The staff were quite responsive when we contacted them which we appreciated but overall I didn’t get the most restful nights during our stay. Another disappointment was the Wi-Fi. It is advertised as high-speed Wi-Fi but we found it extremely slow and unreliable. We actually had to go to a café to work because the connection at the hotel simply wasn’t good enough.

Too dark

The staff was really helpful and the service was good. The price is good. Even though is on downtown it has a good location, you have several places to go to eat. I’ve book and a female room but the first time I got into a mixed room and then later I was changed but again to a mixed room, until the third time I got into a female room. in the first mixed room the bathroom was dirty. In none of the shared rooms had a curtain for you bed like in other hostels so, if you like some privacy prepare yourself. As is downtown I don’t recommend go out at night.

The rooftop bar and pool was the highlight of the property. Modern, comfortable, great views. The bar staff was the kindest of all the staff. The drinks were great and the food was good. Great location near lots of food and crypto My room was really dirty hair in the bathroom on the wall and floor. Hair on the bed and toe nail clippings on the floor in the room. Also,the hotel and room smell stale and a bit misty

It was missing attention to details. The towels were past their prime, there was no body lotion or hair dryer present ( the basics ). Our room had an unpleasant urine smell upon arrival and the hotel does not offer automatic daily housekeeping. The front desk personnel was very pleasant and the location worked for us due to its proximity to the concert we attended

Hotel was way better than I anticipated. Decently spacious, furniture not dated. All clean. Surroundings were not too bad considering the bad rap that the downtown area has

The staff were all friendly and helpful and the location was great! The beds were a little too firm for our liking but the room was clean and the hotel was beautiful. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and appreciate all the staff who helped us enjoy our visit to LA.

Nothing Location water pressure sucked valet was $66 bux a nite

the staff were very helpful and kind. I loved the quirkiness of the hotel and the vibe. Old style hotel with lots of wood and dark colors. Great large shower, and high ceilings. Well done.

Disappointing

I've always enjoyed the LA Freehand, in all aspectss This time, though, I was really disappointed. The WiFi wasn't working for nearly 3 days, the Exchange window was closed, and the restaurant is closing down. Sorry to say, but the overall experience was severely damaged by these things.

Good

AC was awful, during the day even with it on full blast, the room would sit at 88+ degrees. Everything in the hotel was dated and old

long lines, spotty wifi, fussy key cards, couldn't eat in the lobby even thought restaurant was closed, lightbulb out in the room, pool murky

The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The location was great . We had a small room at first asked to switch and they gave us a bigger more room !
