Loved it just wish the pool was accessible after 7pm

The hotel smelled nice as soon as you walk in. They have a nice rooftop bar as well. Although the area around the block didn’t really feel safe especially at night. There was a hidden facility charge upon check in that I was not aware of. Our hotel room was clean but it smelled like pee like it was a care home as soon as we walked in so we opened the windows and aired out the room. The AC wasn’t working so I reported it. Someone had to come and change out the filters but it still didn’t work. We only stayed 1 night so we just let it go and used our portable handheld fans to make us feel cool.

on the room it says after days they will clean the room but there is none

This hotel has so much potential! The rooms were a bit outdated, and need to be more cleaned.
-
Hotel staff was very friendly and nice. The lobby bar and rooftop pool were also very nice. Room was decent for what we needed. Good location, near grocery, coffee, food and a bar.

Hotel is old and the rooms are old.

Did not receive towels or room service despite putting the sign up TV was not a smart tv despite having a smart remote No blinds so the early morning sun woke us up at the crack of dawn positives: Front desk staff and door opener were lovely The shower is amazing

Excellent cozy place to stay in downtown LA with a friendly staff and great vibes

I didn’t get to explore the whole place. I only stayed a night. I stayed in a quad room and requested a bottom bunk. The guy at the front was nice to follow through. I thought I had the whole room to myself, but another solo traveler showed up later. The room was small, but that didn’t bother me. I was happy we had our own private bathroom! The mattress could be better!

We checked in on Tuesday and left on Saturday and our room was not serviced once. We had to ask for clean towels but no one came to clean the room in 4 days.

Staff was amazing, room was perfect for the night

It was my birthday weekend and I had so much fun

The A/C in the room did not work. Called the front desk twice. Once when we checked in and once again, four hours later and both times they said they would send a technician to take a look at it and they never did. The room was hot and the refrigerator was warm.. We took our own food and it spoiled because they did not keep the food cool. Security up at the pool area can use some customer service training. They speak to people of they are children. Will not be going back

Clean hotel would definitely recommend

Across the street is a Dunkin’ Donuts, a night club, and food trucks at night.

The Freehand is a good Hotel. The staff stands out. Friendly, courteous and knowledgeable about the area. The surrounding area nightlife is a bit robust but playful. The rooftop pool and restaurant was a welcomed highlight of me and my teenage Son. Overall The Freehand charming motif made for a very pleasant experience.

This place was a real gem - fun, boutique style hotel with classic charm and mellow surroundings. Great bar directly across the street too! Definitely would stay here again :)

This was a mom and small daughter trip. The hotel was beautiful. Our room was very nice. I need to acknowledge the valets they were amazing, super friendly even giving us food recommendations. The desk staff was great too. We wanted to use the pool but unfortunately it is open to the public- the whole upper deck is open to them. The restaurant staff was not that great we had to seat ourselves because no one offered help. And when we did get attention after we sat we were greeted with an attitude. Location is close to a lot of places but neighborhood is shady.
