The Hoxton Downtown LA

My boyfriend and I stayed for a one night stay-cation since we live in the city and couldn’t be happier about it! Loved the vibe, the style and the staff were amazing. Drinks and food at the rooftop bar were excellent, so we are for sure coming back for a date night!

Feel like a movie star and stay here while in LA! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was so relaxed. The staff are super accommodating and friendly. The rooftop pool was an amazing escape from the busy city. And the decor is just stunning!

Cool retro vibe in each room, one light switch not working, big shower and restroom. Light for sink was too dark even on high setting. The room was quiet with minimal street noise but we were on the seventh floor. Nice coffee and tea set-up as well as free milk and water in mini fridge. Great food in the diner downstairs for breakfast. Only one minor issue. We ate a delicious breakfast got back to the room a bit after 11:00 am and locked out of the room. Why have a late check out at noon (standard by the way) and punish me with a walk downstairs to have the key reactivated? Would I stay again, heck yes!

I thought the hotel was really clean and overall was a really cute hotel. The staff were really friendly. The only thing that was disappointing was check in. Check in was at 2pm, I arrived a little before 4 and the room wasn’t ready. I waited a little over an hour to get a room.

They say 2 pm check in but room wasn't ready until 4pm. The manager was not apologetic or helpful, he made excuses for his cleaning staff. I get that weekends are busy but if you hotel can't keep it's commitment to a check in time then maybe that time should change. Won't stay again

Overall pretty good. Property was good, clean, location was nice but 2nd floor was quite noisy. I’d say valet was a nightmare, elevator takes so long and only 1 elevator works. Room looked similar but I expected more for paying more.

The only reason why I gave more than one star is because of how well kept the rooms are. We booked a room thinking there were two beds there was only one. That was fine, when I went to have it corrected there was nothing they can do again fine. I said then let me book a new room they said they think they were sold out but if they did have availability it would be over 400 for the night. Then they said they were at capacity. That did not make sense since I could see rooms available online. I was late for my dinner reservation so I said I will deal with this later. I then booked another room through Expedia to make sure my party was not split into a different hotel. Once we had dinner we came back and the staff said we can check you in but we have no idea when your room will become available and we will call you when it’s ready. Normally this would be an issue but we had plans anyway so we went about our business. We did not receive a call for the room until 9:41 PM. I also had to pay two separate deposits and now I’m seeing five different charges from the hotel. I’m sure some will fall off but this just was a weird situation and the staff didn’t really make an effort to help it was just like well. Sorry. Very frustrating experience. The line to check in was always very long as well.

Everything was perfect from check in to check out We asked extra towels 4 minutes later, a knock at the door. The staff is very attentive Amazing bath with European shower Very nice comfortable bed. Very quiet place , slept great. The tv didn’t work, they tried fixing it at 11:30 at night. We appreciate the effort anyway. Early check in and late check out easy to arrange on their website. Really cute pool area with sofas and lots of shade. A great experience We will be back

I have always been a fan of The Hoxton and regularly stay at its properties in Williamsburg, London, and Amsterdam. I appreciate the brand’s design, social atmosphere, restaurants, and lively lobby spaces, which is why I chose The Hoxton Downtown LA. Unfortunately, this stay was so disappointing that I left after only a few hours and did not spend a single night at the hotel. I checked in around 11:30 p.m. on a Friday, and none of the hotel’s food or beverage options were open. I was told the closest food was a 10-minute walk away, which did not feel like a practical option late at night in Downtown LA. The front desk said I could order Uber Eats and that the food would be brought to my room, but I ultimately had to go downstairs to collect it myself. When I realized the order had no utensils, I called and was told they would be brought up immediately. After waiting another 15 minutes, I had to return downstairs because no one came. The hotel appeared severely understaffed, with only one front-desk employee and one security employee available. At one point, the security employee was covering reception while the front-desk employee was on a break. The valet service was equally unacceptable. At approximately 2 a.m., I requested my car so I could purchase some essentials. It took about 45 minutes, including roughly 25 minutes spent waiting outside at the curb, because one valet employee was apparently serving both The Hoxton and the neighboring hotel. At that point, I got into my car and stayed elsewhere. This property did not provide the service, comfort, convenience, or atmosphere I associate with The Hoxton brand. The combination of the location, closed amenities, inadequate staffing, and extremely slow valet service made the experience unacceptable.
