Extended Stay America Suites Merrillville US Rte 30

Room was clean. No one was at front desk when we arrived to check in until another guest dialed 0 on the phone near the front of the hotel and someone came but you’d think someone would be there at all times during business hours..

The staff was fabulous...kind, helpful, patient, & informative! It was clean & well maintained. We had never stayed in an "Extended Stay" place, & were not aware we needed to bring a hair dryer, cups, bring ice, etc. It was our problem, but we were not prepared. It was a last minute booking when we were already on the road.

Check-in employee Lovia was very warm, friendly, personable, and professional! My boyfriend and I were hopeful that the hotel wasn’t run down since it’s relatively more affordable than other hotels in the area. I’m glad I listened to the reviews! We had no real complaints! The double-bed room was just perfect for us. We loved the full-size fridge and freezer. The room was so cozy. The only problem we experienced was difficulty using our key card on their side entrance (was closer to our room). Another guest came behind us and had to reinsert his key card in and out just like us several times before the door would open. I hope that gets fixed. Also, it would have been nice if they had a more selective breakfast like eggs, pancakes, bacon, toast, etc but they’re affordable and were great otherwise! I’d recommend this hotel!! Perfect for a couple trying to have an affordable hotel stay with a good experience.

No pool

The property definitely could have been better maintained but you get what you pay for and it was a safe location.

Room was clean and staff were very friendly. Kitchen was adequate but the room could use an update which is why I am not going to give a full 5 stars.

horrible horrible horrible!!! DO NOT STAY HERE. Staff is rude and doesn’t care about the people who come to stay. I’m telling you now, DONT stay here. Worst experience ever.

The most terrible motel , I have ever been at. Motel 6 beats them. And that is saying a lot , Service was like shit. If you needed anything no one was at the desk. Waited 25 minutes and still no one came. Just so we can get cleaned linen.

The staff and the other residents were super friendly. We enjoyed interacting with everyone we met on the property. Questions we had were answered promptly and clearly. Thank you to staff!! Location -- it was hard to find, not clearly marked. I would have liked to have a coffee maker in the room. The continental breakfast could have been better too.

Beds were uncomfortablerim was very outdated

I have stayed at a few hotels in the area before so I am familiar with the area very well. I never stayed at this particular hotel before. I understand the nature of Extended Stay hotels and the long term rental aspect. What I was not prepared for was being placed in a room where a animal had been in that soiled the carpet so bad it had obviously soaked the pad. The smell of urine couldn't be covered. They only had 2 rooms available on the first floor at check-in. I was traveling with my elderly mother and didn't want to be on the 3rd floor which was the only other option. So I fought through it. I bought Frebreeze, Lysol, Carpet refresher and an air freshener. This only masked the smell for 2-3 days then it was back. I stayed 10 days. The hotel needs remodeling. The rooms are old but clean. The staff was extremely nice and pleasant. My mom's room was clean and free from any pet smells. If hotels are going to allow pets, they should shampoo and clean carpets thoroughly or block those rooms off just for people with pets. One morning there was no hot water. I let I run for 15min then it got hot. The shower pressure is horrible. Its an older clean hotel. The price clearly reflects this. I felt safe there but fighting the odor made it uncomfortable and no i was not changing rooms and leaving my elderly parent. Room 141!!

Did not checked out shortly after checking in Didn’t realize the closed the front desk and locked door at a certain time. Would have to call some to come to the desk if we would need anything

Good customer service and clean room

It was a a good enough stay for the night. Staff was very friendly. The noise of the freeway and the floors in the room is a bit sticky.

Not much Didn’t have the utensils, pots , pans anything in it but a dry tile. We had to get forks, spoons, plates from front desk. False advertisement. No soap in the bathroom we had to ask for it. I complained to the manager

Great location, with nice pricing. Room was clean and comfortable. Nice set up for work on the road. I arrived late and the sign for the house phone to contact the night staff had outdated information. I had to contact the main reservations desk and they contacted the night staff. She was very apologetic and helped me right away.

Clean room and helpful staff. Not the best pillows, but otherwise suitable.
