The only issue that I had personally was my room type. I do not like at all a tub/shower combo and I think they are outdated. Because of this I changed rooms twice (moved for shower and lost my view; moved to a room with a shower and view). For this I am thankful to the staff for being understanding and accommodating. The only issue that I have with the hotel upkeep is the carpet. The carpet is a grayish-taupe and it is worn and appears to be dirty. It should be cleaned or changed immediately.

We’ll Worth the Price

The hotel was centrally located to all the Essence festival events at the convention center and Caesars superdome.

The staff were extremely friendly from the time you step foot on the property to the moment you check out. Will definitely be staying again when I visit New Orleans!

The Downtown location was ideal. The entrance and lobby is very nice. The first floor staff from check-in, bellhop, to concierge were all great! The corner rooms are nice! The room key system was horrible, as there was a delay in having the key recognized by the door locks, elevators, and entrance doors where it was required. It took several seconds to get into anywhere requiring the room key. I would recommend using a mobile key, but you will need a Marriott membership to get this. Also, the view from the lower floors was less than spectacular, as guests will mostly only see the top of the hotel with A/C equipment and the like. I suspect the best views are from floors 20 and higher.

Staff was delightful. Quick stay but enjoyed it. Always nice at a JW

They charged me for all these things that I didn’t even know were an option to use. I didn’t have access to the lounge despite paying almost $2000 apparently because I booked with Expedia. If you’re going for business I would suggest this but if you’re just going for a quick fun vacation there are definitely more affordable options

Great location to walk easily to bourbon street , casino and convention center. Great bar and awesome bat tenders Jerome and Jamie! Great time and will be back soon.

The property was nice, it was not luxury as I’m accustomed to for a JW Marriott. The air conditioner was so loud when in kicked in. I really don’t know what to say about this property that was positive.

Be very mindful staying at this property. I stayed here May 15, 2026 - May 18, 2026. On May 16, 2026 when I returned to my room, I realized my belongings had been rambled through to only realize that a piece of jewelry had been stolen from me. This ruined my trip. I reported this incident in the correct manner; however, the property does not accept responsibility for stolen property. Now, I know you are wondering why I did not use the safe boxes. Well they did not work. I did everything I could trying to open it. I have stayed in so many different places, left jewelry on the dresser and never a missing piece. My first time at a Marriott property and this happens. To my surprise, they accept no responsibility. No wonder staff will go through your belongings and take what they want. I really wonder how many times this has occurred. Marriott needs to do better! I have very unimpressed!

The location is wonderful. It is convenient to the French Quarter and the streetcar line. The room size was comfortable with nice amenities. I especially enjoyed the coffee service in the morning and the daily planned activities the hotel provided. I would definitely stay here again.
