One star comes off because the famous fixture - the bar with the Mary-go-round - was under renovation and we have not been notified when we decided to make the reservation. Parking is expensive and not easy to retrieve stuff from your car if needed. Otherwise, location, staff and venue were top.

very great location right on royal street, around tons of shops and restaurants and sights to see. they have a great rooftop pool with a poolside bar where you can order food and drinks, they also have a gym and a restaurant on the main level and of course you have to go to the carousel bar! This place really makes you feel like royalty !

We like to stay in historic accommodations when we travel & this hotel perfect for that. The carousel bar was especially fun to visit! Also location is amazing for anywhere you want to walk in the French quarter & beyond

For the price and fun location this hotel is 5 stars. It has a great history and has that authentic feel for an older hotel. We stayed for two nights. The Front Desk staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They offer free water at the front desk. They gave us some information about the area. We requested a late checkout and they gave us a good deal on the extra three hours. Rooms are spacious enough and the bathroom is very spacious as well. My only two suggestion is updating the shower, which is a tub and an actual shower curtain, which was a little weird. The carpet needs to be replaced desperately though. All in all a terrific day and Five star stars.

This is a beautiful, historic property with impeccable service. We stayed in the Riverview Suite that had spectacular views from every room. This was one of the most comfortable beds we have ever slept on and the 100% down pillows were dreamy. The hotel is very old, so rooms are smaller, but still felt spacious. The jetted tub and extra powder room were lovely extras and well worth upgrading to a suite for. The hotel continues to offer touches that make the stay feel luxurious such as white tablecloth room service, turndown service, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, and staff members in smart, classic, tailored uniforms. The Criollo restaurant and iconic Carousel Bar were wonderful - beautiful drinks and food. The rooftop pool was quite nice, but very little shade so do be prepared with a good sun hat. The stars of the show were each and every member of the staff. A very special thank you to Cory and Alberto at the Carousel, and GM Brice who saved the day after a mixup on a tour we booked - thanks for a "once in a lifetime" hour at the Carousel, guys! If historic hotels with iconic service and old school glamor with modern comforts are your thing, this is the hotel for you.

The room was tastefully decorated, clean and what you would expect from this hotel. Quick walk to multiple restaurants and shops.
