voco St. James Hotel by IHG

The property is very well located to enjoy everything New Orleans has to offer. I didn’t have any negative experiences as It ‘just about’ hits the right points, but I would want to consider other options before this hotel if you can. Staff were polite, pleasant and helpful. It is a little jaded. I suppose it is situated within an old historic building. However there was a distinct musty damp smell in the room, our friends who also stayed there also experienced this. The beds, though comfortable, are built in such a way that you need a couple of wooden steps to literally climb in and out of them. Breakfast options are limited and you would be better off trying some of the places near the hotel.

Staff was super, super friendly. The room was very cozy, well decorated and the location within the French Quarter is perfect. Is there an easier way to get water?

This hotel was gorgeous, clean, and the people working there were so sugary sweet. I would come stay again and again. They also gave complimentary Zapp's chips to welcome you which was a lovely welcome to New Orleans as someone from Philly visiting for the first time! I didn't like that breakfast wasn't included despite the booking website saying it was. I don't mind that it wasn't free, I just wish booking.com accurately represented that ahead of time so I would have saved up more money.

The property is centrally located and close to everything not to close To crowded areas The sewer smell was unpleasant, and quiet hours were not enforced. Some guests were loud at night, including in the pool, which disrupted other customers

The staff went above and beyond!

Staff was friendly and very help the entire stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The restaurant that was connected was fantastic. The courtyard was over run with rats and roaches. I also didn’t have consistent cleaning of my room

My only criticism was the breakfast package. The options were limited and the food was disappointing. The wait staff were, for the most part, helpful, but I would not recommend adding the breakfast package. Overall, I had a great stay and would happily stay at voco St. James again—just without the breakfast package.

Clean room, extra towels were brought up. Casino is a 6 minute walk away, very close!
