414 hotel

Room was awful and was not even close as to what was shown in the booking. No wash cloths, stains on the lamp shades, hand/finger prints on the head board, bathroom door wouldn’t close, hair and stuff in sink, used Q tips on floor and tub was so dirty you couldn’t take a bath

We mainly chose this hotel based on proximity to the events we wanted to attend. The photos looked like the place was okay and the reviews were pretty good. We were not looking for an amazing place as we just really needed a place to relax after walking all day and to get up and go the next day. Unfortunately, there were a few issues with our room that the person on duty could not and did not really resolve. The bathroom sink had a very slow drain and the TV could get no stations or even apps to find something on streaming. We waited two hours for maintenance to come but they never did. We asked the attendant in the morning about the TV and it seemed like they also had no idea. Not really a deal breaker and, if you don't care about that stuff, the place was fine. But, housekeeping could be better. The common areas looked like they hadn't been vacuumed in a while. There are also a lot of knicks and marks on the walls and parts of the wall were peeling in our bathroom. Bed was comfy and AC worked well. Location was convenient and, aside from someone who thought it was a good idea to go out into the hall at 2-3am to have a phone conversation, it was quiet enough. It's a no frills place and, if you don't need a bunch of outlets or quality furnishings, then this place should suffice.

The staff truly made our stay unforgettable. Bob and the two wonderful ladies at the front desk were some of the kindest, most genuine people we have ever met while traveling. They were always so attentive, respectful, helpful, and encouraging. From great conversations in passing to checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed, they went above and beyond to make us feel at home. Their hospitality and positive energy made a huge difference during such a busy and demanding time. It’s rare to find people who care so much about their guests, and they truly embody what exceptional customer service should be. Thank you, Hotel 414, for taking such great care of us. We will absolutely remember the kindness we experienced here and would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NYC!

Disappointed with the whole experience

When I got to my room, it was even worse. The furniture had chipped paint, the floors looked filthy, and the bathroom was just as dirty. The biggest safety concern was that the fire alarm had a garbage bag wrapped around it. I told myself, "It's only one night, just tough it out." But as I walked around the bed, I found a dead cockroach on the floor. It looked like it had been there for a while, which made me question whether the room had been cleaned at all. Curious (and disgusted), I looked under the bed and found another dead cockroach near the head of the bed. I also noticed what appeared to be dried blood next to the mirror. That was enough for me, so I requested another room. The staff switched me without any issue, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the second room wasn't much better. It still felt dirty, and the next morning I found someone else's hair in the shower. To make matters worse, the walls are so thin you can hear everything outside your room as if the door were open. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've had. Between the cleanliness issues, apparent lack of housekeeping, safety concerns, and excessive noise, I would never stay here again and would not recommend it to anyone.

We stayed for 2 nights and the first day we didn’t notice the death smell just a heavy cleaner smell. The next day we came back a 1am and we were hit with the smell of death. Too tired to say anything that night we went to the desk the next morning and complained about the smell. The front desk women told us the death happened two weeks prior and the smell was still so prominent. We complain and they refunded the facility fee. Are you kidding me!?!? After all of this they actually charged me the cleaning fee twice! Then refunded that without contacting me either time. By the way the was the hotel we stayed in the day after our wedding….. Do not go here, it is outdated, broken down, and gross.

The facility was in need of maintenance.

TV didn't work at all, safe wouldnt open, had an ironing board without an iron lol...ALL of which, the staff both man & woman could careless about! Maintenance person NEVER CAME, NEVER received an iron, NEVER bothered to adjusted my bill for numerous inconveniences! $400 for two days & its in the dirty weird Village...Oh yeah, you cant even come & go as you please lol, have to wait for one of the shady staff members to let you back into the building lmao, DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!

The shower was difficult to operate.

Location Ease of getting in and out. Friendly staff My room has strong, strong, strong, cleaning liquid smell that I couldn’t sleep half of the night. Pillows are bad, mattress it’s on the soft side opposite of what I prefer

Dirty towels

Location was excellent. Very safe area with tons of dining options within steps. 1) Had to ask for towels. None in room. 2) had to ask for toilet paper. None in room. 3) tv/cable didn't work. Was told use phone and stream to TV. Tried for almost an hour and gave up. 4) said they would move us to another room with tv for night # 2 .never did. Hotel was full. 5) electrical outlets in room with no covers 6) paint chips fall all over when trying to open windows. NEVER AGAIN.

Horrible Horrible

I stayed 4 nights and only saw housekeeping 1 time after requesting it. When they refreshed the towels there was no hand towels or washcloths. I requested a taxi to the airport and was told I had to arrange it myself. The one window in the room was filthy and hadn’t been cleaned in some time. Wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
