Motel 6 Newport, RI

Broken rear door which bruised me twice when it banged back. Garbage in the parking lot. No security or onsite cameras, so I had a stranger trying to get into my room- obviously a mistake but it was unnerving. Cockroaches in room. Stained wash cloth. Air conditioning- good. Bed comfortable. Mini fridge and microwave in room, convenient.

I would not refer anyone to this motel.

I did not like that it took 1/2 to check in, the ac was not working, the grounds in parking lot were full of debris near the back enatrance.

The room conditions were also unacceptable. The humidity was so severe that the floors were wet and slippery, creating a safety concern. The blankets had visible cigarette burns, which was shocking and made me question the cleanliness and maintenance of the room. The air conditioning was not working properly, making the room even more uncomfortable. After staying there, I developed itchy rashes that I believe may have been caused by something in the room or bedding. Overall, the experience was far below expectations, and I would not recommend this hotel to others. The cleanliness, air quality, and room conditions need serious improvement.

We picked this location because we had a wedding in Newport, and with everything being so expensive, this was by far the most affordable option. We booked a two-bed room (Room 204) for a single Saturday night in August. I paid $264, and I booked several months in advance. By the time of our stay, the price had gone up to around $340, so I would definitely recommend booking well in advance if you’re looking for a more affordable rate. I’ll be honest—I was extremely apprehensive about staying here after reading the reviews. I even brought my own linens and a roll of cleaning wipes just in case. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience. The woman at the front desk was extremely nice and helpful. I called ahead, and we were able to get into our room early, which was greatly appreciated. Upon arrival, I immediately checked the bed and room thoroughly, and I did not find anything questionable or concerning. The room was basic, but I felt comfortable and safe during our stay. One minor inconvenience was that the bathroom only had one body towel, but it was easy enough to ask for more. We also had no problem with parking. Admittedly, we had two friends meet us there and leave their cars at the hotel, and the four of us took an Uber to and from the wedding. Uber was extremely easy to get both ways and was surprisingly affordable, so transportation was not an issue for us at all. There are permanent residents at this location, so it does have more of a residential/motel feel than a traditional hotel. It is definitely not a five-star hotel, and you should set your expectations accordingly. However, based on my experience, I did not feel unsafe or that the accommodations were unsanitary. If you go in expecting a basic, safe, and reasonably clean place to sleep—especially if you’re looking for an affordable option in Newport—I would recommend it.

Hotels.com said that the motel room had a refrigerator and microwave. It had neither, not even a garbage can. The room was in rough shape. The staff was great however. The location was perfect.

Don’t stay here! Absolutely disgusting, you get what you pay for!

Great location It was very old and rundown. I’m at the Owner that bought the property a week ago. He was working on fixing it and getting it ready as new management.

It was in Newport The room was no smoking but it reeked of smoke. Our clothes still smell and the smell came into the room. It would have been nice to have some shampoo. The towels very thin.

The room was filthy, and the bathtub was peeling its top layer. We found multiple bugs in the room and the sheets had stains on them. Do not stay at this location.

2) 6 cockroaches in bathroom 3) No towels 4) Dirty bedding 5) Switched to a different room (219) which had no towels, and the air conditioner wasn’t working in Newport in August on 85 degree days 6) Back exit door is broken-it snaps back hard. The rusty nail cut my arm creating a black and blue bruise, requiring a tetanus shot. 7) Staff friendly but passive (on phones) and not helpful at all. 8) Many people complaining; no housekeeping; they “ran out of towels” Staff said none of them would be there the following day because of new owners. I slept in my car for fear of cockroaches, mice, bed bugs, and the dirty bedding. I want a refund.

Hopefully change in ownership will see improvements / absolutely not ok…. Stayed for jazz festival in previous years - much better stay. This year was dirty - from gross ashtray at entrance / dirty lobby / hallways not vaccumed in ages/ rooms with sticky floor / gross grime in bathroom- we bought cleaning supplies next door/ at least it was handy! Sadddddddddd

noting it was disgustingly dirty and smelled like mold there was no fitted sheet in the mattress just a bare mattress it was foul everything

Good area, near to shopping plaza, the staff were ok, but other than that the most dirty motel 6 I ever been. when I arrive to the property for Check in the from guy desk tell me they only have one house keeper for the whole building.

I would not recommend staying at this hotel.
