Motel 6 Newport, RI

Unfortunately, the door had to be forced and slammed shut every time. The halls smell like smoke, the front desk workers are rude and annoyed, and the grounds were dirty. Overall, it was a place to sleep, but it was outrageously priced for what you get.

Front desk and staff were all very nice! Air conditioning worked great too and parking was easy. However, cleanliness and upkeep of overall property was poor. Our room was supposedly non-smoking but the smell was pungent upon walking in so much so it made its way onto all of our clothes in our suitcase :) We hosted a variety of bugs throughout our one night stay. Mold on the ceiling, trash and crumbs from previous guests, and very thin walls. It should be illegal to pay the amount that we did for this room. I digress.

Room was dirty and shower was stained. Very thin blankets and could feel the springs in the mattress. Walls were very thin and could hear everything. Staff were lighting off fireworks in the parking lot late at night and the noise was so intense I thought at one point someone was trying to get into our room. The check in host was lovely.

It was a *hi*hole and we refused to stay there. I am in dispute trying to get a full refund. I cannot believe that you have this as a hotel option on your site. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of Rhode Island because they are running a scam.

The TV got two sports channels and several news channels, golf and an old NFL game from last season and CNN and Fox News. Morning else. There was no water pressure for a shower and I mean no water pressure. The bathroom door was a complete mess, under repair, but not finished, and there was just one towel in the room. No shampoo. No one answers the phone when you call the front desk. Last year it was a good review, this year it is pathetic.

Bed room had no tables, no chairs, no comforter. The bed was damp. No toilet paper in bathroom. One towel that was dirty. Guy at front desk was nice and helpful. Afford another room. We left. Said I’d have $ back in 3-5 days. It’s obvious to me that this place is a homeless shelter in the winter maybe. Screens ripped on windows. I was very surprised. The picture that are on Expedia are NOT the hotel we booked. We will never stay at a Motel 6 ever again so don’t leave the light on.

At arrival it looked old run down and dirty. Entering you were hit with a stench of stale smoke. A guest/resident (?) was in lobby yelling at her child. Staff had no identifiable Motel 6 clothing. The room booked was said to have a microwave and fridge. It did not. When asked about such amenities I was brushed off. The bathroom had one towel, and when asked for more, it was quite bothersome to the front desk, who also does not answer the phone. The floor was stained. The bed sounded like a doctors office exam table. The pillows cases were dirty. Animals were allowed and all you heard was a vicious constant bark(security?) It was more of a residence shelter for the less fortunate. Checked out next morning. This doesn’t deserve one star.

This place was absolutely horrendous. I don't know who checks this place, but, they shouldn't be a listing on Hotels. I can't believe this place actually is allowed to operate by the local licensing authority. The place is filthy. Doors are always propped open &/or broken. Smells like the halls haven't been cleaned in years. I fully understand this is a Motel 6. It's not synonymous with high quality or convenience. No refrigerator, microwave or functioning t.v. Surprisingly, only saw 1 bug. Chose this place only because they are dog friendly. I've stayed in several Motel 6s before, but, none had this level of filth or lack of convenience. The staff couldn't have cared less. Do yourself a favor and stay anywhere else.

I guess you’ll get what you pay for however, the smell of smoke is disgusting. The outside of the property is disgusting. I got home and emptied my clothes. All of my clothes stunk like the hotel. The towels are terrible. It really just needs to be clean. I was really really disappointed.

DO NOT STAY HERE!! Mold all over the place, cobwebs everywhere, room was completely disgustingly dirty, smelled like someone was chain smoking, couldn’t get a towel (and when we finally did it one it was the size of a hand towel….). Only thing missing was the chalk line of a dead body…..Not a joke I contemplated sleeping in my car and now wish that I did with having a cough from the mold. This is by far the worst place I have ever stayed and it should be burned to the ground. They should be embarrassed for running a property like this. Shame on you Motel 6. I should get my money back for this disgrace……I also blame Expedia for allowing this to have such a high rating the 1st place…..

Staff nice, room ok.

Parking was very accessible. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The air-conditioning works great.

Close to the base, the room was clean. The building is a little worn, but if you don't mind that.And just need a place to put your head down.It's great

This is a nice location, however it needs a lot of TLC. The front door was not secured, the bath tub had some major chips out of it and you had to be careful not to step on them. Cockroaches came out of the plugged in hair dryer, the comforter smelled like urine, the halls had a constant presence of marijuana in them, the Ice machine barely put out ice. Positivity was the TV worked and the A/C unit worked. It’s too bad this place is in this condition. There’s permanent people living here and that seems to be a part of the issues. I would skip this place and look at the Rodeway Inn &suits a few miles away.

The room was not cleaned well at all and smelled damp and smoky. My wife said: "Im not staying here" and of course that ended that.

This hotel is utterly disgusting. Smells like cigarette smoke, a dirty film on every surface, window treatment falling off the window, just a dirty place. We literally checked in, saw our room. and checked out in 10 minutes. It's hard to believe this place is in New Port and allowed to look like this.
